After Xiaomi, Lenovo (& Motorola) will manufacture phones in India

Only recently did Xiaomi announce that it would be making phones in India. Lenovo is the next to join the ‘Make in India bandwagon’.

If you aren’t aware, Make in India isĀ an initiative by the Indian government started in a bid to bring more companies to manufacture products in the country. In return, the government allows various incentives to the makers in various different guises. Xiaomi started off their campaign very recently with the Redmi 2 Prime.

Lenovo is now a part of the campaign. And along with the parent brand, the company is also bringing Motorola to manufacture devices in India. The Moto E and the Lenovo K3 Note will be the first two phones to be built in India. In fact, Motorola’s Moto E is already being made inĀ Sriperumbur near Chennai according to the company.

Expect a lot more Chinese and international manufacturers to follow in the coming months, especially because the smartphone market in India is experiencing a revolution right now.
