Oppo R5S announced with updated specs but still on Kitkat!

Oppo remain one of the leaders in thin smartphone design and have just updated their 4.85mm think R5 to become the R5S with higher specs.

The original Oppo R5 launched last with with a super slim body and standard specs that included 2GB RAM and 16GB memory. Since then the smartphone market has moved along and now we all expect a little more in the memory department, so here is the newly updated Oppo R5S.

Cosmetically the R5S hasn’t changed, and even on the inside most of the hardware such as the 5.2-inch AMOLED HD display, Snapdragon 615, 13 mega-pixel camera and 2000mAh battery remain the same but now there is 3GB RAM plus 32GB of memory.

A Snapdragon 615 really doesn’t fill us with much confidence after our experience with the Xiaomi Mi4i and the Vivo X5 Pro, and what is more of a concern is the fact the phone still runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat!

Look back a few years and Oppo were the leaders in open source and developer support, but these days their phones seem to fester on old Android versions.

Yes i agree with you – its an extremely well built phone very slim (if not the slimmest)
audio from usb is surprisngly good i think they use an dac the camera is also great battery is below average though but i have to say that this is the best 615 performer right now their cooling is extremely efficient

Humble upgrade if you ask me. I believe most people would be happier with different SoC, or at least snapdragon 8xx. No lesson learned, again.

I prefer oppo find 7 than my oneplus one. Oneplus one is fvcked when their relationship ended with cyanogen.

I really wish Oppo would say something about the Find 9.
