UMi eMax Mini will be a 5″ FHD, 3050mAh, 8MP/13MP phone

UMi revealed yesterday that the eMax Mini would feature an octa-core Snapdragon chipset, but didn’t really tell anything more than that.

The latest teaser from the company talks about some more specifications of the ‘mini’ phone. The teaser reveals that the eMax Mini will have a 5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080p FHD resolution (so much for ‘mini’ phones!), a 3050mAh battery, an 8 mega-pixel front facing camera and lastly a 13 mega-pixel rear camera.

Yesterday’s teaser pointed at a 64-bit octa-core processor that the phone will have.

The eMax Mini is shaping up to be a decent phone for folks used to smaller phones (not as small as the new Elephone though). A mystery in the form of the SoC still remains unsolved; considering that it’ll be a budget phone (like all other UMi phones), there are chances that the 64-bit octa-core SoC is the Snapdragon 615.

UMi’s also working on the launch of the upcoming Zero 2 smartphone, which will have a Super AMOLED screen among some other goodies. There’s a very clear difference between various smartphone lineups from UMi, such as the Hammer (build), Zero (style, screen), Iron (budget flagship) and of course, eMax (battery).

  The emax wasnt a hit with the mt6752 still Umi builds great phones ( In Build at least) whith original designs – The zero was a disapointment tho’

    Yes, but considering most phones in this category now have 6753 and the lack of quality 5″ devices, that one might have pleased people who want 5″ and I’m sure it’s just not me. I agree Zero was a disappointment though.
    The name is kind of funny though. eMAX, but mini and that mini is 5″, lol.

      Yeah – i noticed that too – max and mini sounds dumb
      Also they would have been set if they made a mini version Of IRON that phone is pretty succesful considering the demand it gets at my friends shop and it Also it received a lot of hype opposed to the eMAX

        I got the emax and it is really good.Except camera and gps (may be fixed) and LTE .And exeptvof these problems it is really good.Tell me good alternatives .No mlais and ulefone OK.There is maybe only one mlais m7 plus.

        there are tons of competition for the emax. maybe not with that same amount of battery, but close.

        Umi almost never fixed things – except with the iron which had a bunch of ota’s but that phone was basically flawed from the beginning

    The original eMax couldn not have been successful since there are at least another 10 phones with almost identical specifications. You need to offer something more to make a well selling product. Add great camera, durable construction, huge battery, small size, NFC, release SW sources, support multiple LTE bands including 800 and 900 MHz. Do all this and it will be a big success.
    So if they don’t forget about LTE 800 MHz, dual sim, SD card, e-compass and there will be no other deal breaker, I’m really interested in their maxi mini.

  I don’t know if its true, I haven’t looked it up, but I read earlier that mtk haven’t released a 5.1 version of android for the 6752.
  If its true, that would be very disappointing. I don’t consider the 6753 to be an upgrade.

Was still waiting on the full Umi Iron review but I’m still not sure about a 5.5″ display. But this eMAX mini might be a very good alternative for me.

    Most likely, there are rumors that say TCL will switch from Alcatel to UMI to sell phones outside from Asia, so that “recall due to software bugs” might not be the whole true. I have an M3G and its a great phone with a bad stock Android that CM12.1 fixes

      Very interesting info. I didn’t know about this rumors. If the price will be right and with proper software support, it will be a great compact phone. Very few good compact phones this days…
      How is the battery, camera, display and the gps on your M3G?

        In general the phone is a great piece of hardware with an awful stock software. But there’s already scene for the phone with CM12.1 fixing most of the issues, battery last enough with moderate usage and a mix of WiFi 3G it last me around 2 days, can stretch that to 3 even. Camera is fine, it’s a Sony camera tough I don’t have the exact model, but it gets the job done and takes good pictures, GPS it’s great inside home I get quick fix on satellites and outside it’s almost instantaneous.
        It has some minor issues like notification led not working on CM12.1 and speaker volume isn’t very loud but it’s really good and clear it even handles bass very good. It’s a great phone with a great price 150 usd at the time I bought it but right now it’s out of stock every where.

It feels really odd when 5 inch is a “mini” but oh well …
Still I’m looking forward to seeing the UMI Zero 2 which if it lives up to the expectations will be a great phone IMO.
