Xiaomi’s rumoured Mi Edge curved display Samsung Galaxy S6 rival specs revealed.
After releasing the Xiaomi Mi Note with curved glass rear panel I have been wondering how long it will take the Beijing phone maker to use their know how to build a phone with curved front panel.
It doesn’t sound like we have too long to wait as rumours of a device called the Mi Edge have been doing the rounds recently with the most up to date news even suggesting partial specifications for the phone.
Weibo tipsters suggest that the Xiaomi Mi Edge will feature a 5.2-inch 2K display from Sharp, Snapdragon 808 chipset, fingerprint scanner, 16 mega-pixel main camera and between 3GB – 4GB RAM.
It is believed that if the Xiaomi Mi Edge is in fact real we will see it launch in October either in place of the Xiaomi Mi5 or renamed Mi5 to become the next top of the range Mi phone.
As we saw with the pricing of the Mi Note we could also see an increase in price for the Mi Edge too with analysts believing the curved display phone might cost from 2500 Yuan.
What are your thoughts of a curved screen Xiaomi Mi Edge type device? Is a curved display a feature you are interested in having on your next device?
Need to hype the next flagship with new stupid features that you don’t need.
It’s aesthetics more than anything. Some people love the look of it and judging by the sales of the S6 Edge it’s a design we are going to see a lot more of in this industry.
If people liked the note edge and s6 edge. Then people will like this.
Lol sorry to say this to all xiaomi fans but this company hasn’t had a original idea in the last 4 years. And new companies like oneplus are making their phones easily available in the west with warranty and play services onboard.
They don’t need original ideas, they have to keep releasing phones with best value for money like Redmi Note 2. That’s their strong suit.
Maybe OnePlus isn’t a good example, but you are right about one thing, their expansion is going on frustratingly slow.
xiaomi actually makes still a lot of great things and revolutionary ideas you just dont follow its chinese counterpart 🙁
The most revolutionary thing that xiaomi has done over the years is not a particular product but the way they bypass all the middlemen and sell directly to the end users. By that they bring the best value to customers and force other big players to keep improving relentlessly. This system has later been copied by almost everybody else. Thanks to xiaomi, now we have flagship phones for entry-level prices.
You mean they did what online stores have been doing for the last decade. If this revolutionary our standards have sure dropped.
You are comparing an apple to an orange! Please kindly show me an online store that can control every phases of the process from designing, manufacturing to direct selling. Besides, xiaomi is also the pioneer in using social media to effectively market their products and transfer that massive save to end-users. If that ain’t revolutionary, I don’t know what is.
probably none and that includes xiaomi since we all know where they get most of their ideas
You do realize all of these companies copy from each other? You think Apple is 100% original? A lot of their designs were ripped off from other companies including several Chinese companies. But show me another company that has a phone that looks like the Redmi, Mi3 or Redmi Note. Those 3 phones were the biggest factors in Xiaomi’s growth. Show me a company offering everything the Redmi Note 2 does for that price.
Online stores sell a product that is designed, marketed and produced by another company. Xiaomi does everything themselves, their entire growth has been through social media and the internet. 6 years ago there was no Xiaomi, today they are one of the biggest companies in China. If that isn’t revolutionary and original, I don’t know what is.
it’s easy to grow when you steal your ideas from others and then sell your products for half the price because you didn’t spend 1/10 as much R&D. why do you think they haven’t officially launched in Europe or the states because they know lawyers will eat them alive.
If its so easy to grow by doing that how come all these other Chinese companies havent reached the level of Xiaomi? The way you make it seem Xiaomi has done nothing for their own success. So why does’t every Chinese company have sales to match them?
Compared to flagship with the same kind of specs they are less than half the price.
you usually cant get Chinese flagships with native google support or warranty from the manufacturer in Europe or the states.
I never had any issues with Xiaomi honoring my warranty on my Mi3 when I lived in the states. I only had one real problem with it and they had me send it back to Singapore. They didn’t seem to care that i lived in a country with no official support as long as it was a genuine Xiaomi (which they confirmed firsthand). Had the same with Meizu just recently with my MX5, didn’t end up needing to send it back but they offered.
doesn’t really matter as long as they pump out flagship spec’d devices at a fraction of the price. people will buy it.
As a Xiaomi fan I honestly don’t spend more than 2 seconds worrying about them having original ideas. They release amazing phones for the price and they give me weekly software updates.
one plus phone are not easily available unless you want to pay through the nose to get it. The invitation list is a pain. I know of 3 places i could buy the full range of Xiaomi phones from and have it in by hand in about 3 days without import duty
