We’ve heard this before, but Huawei has finally (kind of) acknowledged that the upcoming MateS would have a Force Touch display.
Understanding what Force Touch is doesn’t require you to be a rocket scientist. It is basically a fancy term coined to refer to touch panels that don’t just detect touches, but also measure the pressure behind the touch. Think of how the smartphone changed from resistive to capacitive touch panels with all the extra gestures that came in after multitouch was introduced. Force Touch will allow for something similar, i.e., bring in many new possibilities for gestures and the like.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei has been sending out tweets about this technology which will feature on the upcoming MateS smartphone. The MateS will follow the design scheme of previous gen Mate phones but with the added Force Touch display.
It’ll have a 5.7-inch display with a HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20 mega-pixel rear camera (with dual LED flash, which is more or less a standard on any decent phone now) and an 8 mega-pixel front facing shooter. There isn’t much to go before the device is official — in fact it’ll be out for real tomorrow — so keep watching this space for more.
