It’s been a good few months since Asus first showed the ZenWatch 2, but the Taiwan-based electronics maker announced the pricing info for the Android Wear device only today.
At the ongoing IFA, Asus announced that the ZenWatch 2 would cost €149/€169 (or roughly US$170/US$190) for the 49mm 1.6-inch display and the 45mm 1.45-inch display versions.
Both models of the ZenWatch 2 come with Snapdragon 400 processors 512MB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage, which should be more than plenty for what the watch is designed to do. The displays on both versions are AMOLED, which should also help conserve battery at times. Speaking of battery, Asus says the ZenWatch 2 can last for up to two days on a single charge when used in ‘ambient mode’, i.e., as a regular watch. What’s more, even charging should be faster — up to 50% according to Asus — on the ZenWatch 2.
Gizchina News of the week
You’ll be able to create your own watch faces for the ZenWatch 2 via a tool the company will provide, if the bundled ones don’t make you happy. The watches themselves will be available in Rose Gold, Silver and Gunmetal color versions with the smaller and the larger versions compatible with 18mm and 22mm straps respectively.
The ZenWatch 2 should be available this October, but pricing for anywhere else other than Europe is yet to be revealed.

“Speaking of battery, Asus says the ZenWatch 2 can last for up to two days on a single charge when used in ‘ambient mode’, i.e., as a regular watch.” — Typical marketing speak… I mean, who buys a smartwatch to use it like a regular watch? They should just state “lasts one day of mixed usage” and be done with it.
exactly… my watch urbane lasts 3 days if used just a watch in ambient mode. if I use google now, fit, and play with it, it only lasts from morning to evening.
If you were going to buy a smart watch then you’d want quality as you’ve got that wrist band against your skin all the time. This seem to be fairly good, but as 10basetom states the battery life is 1 day and that’s impractical.
Yah – basically a rebrand + other sizes/designs + battery but still nice price – Fk those bezels tho
I wanted to buy one… until I realized the bezels.
The BEZELS will come after you – have a good day Fred! dont forget to smack Daphne for me 😉
