JiaYu have been a firm favourite with us here at GizChina, but this year the company have been plagued with problems and were rumoured to be going out of business. The future isn’t quite as bleak as it sounds though as a New JiaYu phone is in the works.
The last time we heard about JiaYu it was when they announced that they were being taken over by 3 of their main suppliers. At the time the official statement was that the 3 companies combined would make a ‘New JiaYu’. Its all been very quiet since then and on a recent trip to Shenzhen many people were talking about the end of the company.
This might all be a little premature though as we have received exclusive news from a reliable source that a ‘New Jiayu’ smartphone is in the works.
Gizchina News of the week
According to our source the new phone has already been designed and tested and most of the hardware has been confirmed with just a few items needing to be signed off on. Our source didn’t confirm much but did say the new phone would cost around $150-$160 through international resellers and that the phone would feature “a balance of hardware and performance for the best user experience” and that “software updates are a main part of New JiaYu”.
We’re still not sure when to expect the release of the New JiaYu but it sounds like the launch will be in time for Christmas if everything goes according to plan.
We’ll have more new JiaYu phone news for you as soon as we get it.
Damn I wich JIAYU to upgrade their JAIYU S2 with the Helio X10 or X20 or even X30, this is one of their best phones ever made !!!
I mean in terms of design and compact this is the smallest 5″ FHD phone ever made, there is another one now “Uniscope XC2S Smartphone 5.0 Inch FHD” the width is 67mm instead of JIAYU S2 at 67.5, but is longer than JIAYU, but anyway the JIAYU’s S2 build is better. with this full metal body
Sharp Aquos Crystal is smaller than both (but it is not FHD). Also Xiaomi mi4 is a tiny bit wider and the same height as S2 (also much more powerful + better battery/camera). Mi4i/c is way too wide though (~70mm) a definite step back by Xiaomi that phone…
I a way, you are asking for the last year’s top rumored S4, that would accompany JiaYu’s product line up next to the 5,5″ S3

Please not a midstream phone, there’s already too much mediocre. Needs to be top end Mediatek SoC, and great cameras.
From what I heard they are concentrating now on the international market and that they want to kick things off with an affordable phone first. I guess if it’s a success we might see something with more powerful hardware.
It certainly won’t be a success, please tell them that the market for that “affordable phone” is saturated to death already and they’re only going to dig their grave deeper if they went to “yet another stupid average MTK6753 phone #53947293864”.
I would be interested in a MT6753 phone. But it must fulfill these specifications:
– well built (preferably metal and gorilla glass)
– good SW (available sources would be a big plus)
– not bigger then 5″, preferably 4,7″
– LTE 800 MHz
– dual SIM
– SD slot
– good camera
– all common sensors (including well working compass, NFC would be great)
But I’ll wait for some reviews and will probably get Zopo Speed 7 or Doogee F3 Pro. If the reviews will be bad for both of them, i’ll wait for Blackview Omega or Bluboo Xtouch.
If Jiayu wants me to wait for their phone, I will. But they have to offer something exceptional.
Doogee has 2200mah battery, I hope you know that at least before commiting to them. The Zopo one is decent I suppose. I personally won’t pay that much for it though.
For a 5″ phone 2200 mAh is not a catastrophe if it is replaceable. I’m leaning towards Zopo because of the announced sources release. If someone manages to port CM on it, it will be a clear winner for me.
If you say the Zopo is to expensive (I don’t think 160 USD is too much), what else would you suggest?
I personally won’t be able to use 2200mah, especially if it has FHD screen.
That’s my personal opinion, since I’m fine with 5.5″, I’ll take redmi note 2 in a heartbeat. I also need it for emulator so I need that GPU muscle (Mali T720 is really pushing it on FHD, even for everyday use).
If you can influence them in any way, please persuade them to put X10 as processor, let the price be 200$,am sure market is ready to pay that much for a good product rather than investing in 110-140$ temporary phones.
