Are OnePlus planning to buy HTC’s old Shenzhen factory?

While I was in Shenzhen last week there was news that a Chinese phone maker were planning to buy a HTC factory in Shenzhen. Could it be OnePlus making the bold move?

As far as we know OnePlus are still relying on Oppo and their investors to manufacture the OnePlus and OnePlus 2. This is fine for now, but what if the deal goes sour (like Cyanogen) OnePlus would be up the creek without a paddle

Having their own factory would mean OnePlus don’t need to rely on other companies, it could mean they are able to lower costs, and it would also give confidence to possible new investors for the future.

So if OnePlus are to buy a factory who might they approach? Well what about struggling Taiwanese brand HTC? Pete Lau of OnePlus has posted images of himself at a HTC office which might point to the purchase of a factory in Shenzhen, or might simply be a holiday snap.

Many of this brands making crazy amount of phones no self centered ones, I say: any decent Chinese manufacturer should do this for 1only phone to take the market by storm without forgetting anything ANYTHING:
A. 4000+mAh battery
B. Forget the crap and hire cyanogen we will put desired launcher after no matter what.
C. 18+mpx camera or more (budget dept.)
D. 5 and 5.5 2k screens variants (FHD as minimum and 2k maximum)
E. 4gb of some fast RAM
F. 32 GB or more onboard storage
G. Never forget the memory card reader
H. A real 8mpx front camera with a led flash
I. Full spectrum network bands support So not forgetting this or that band.
J. Front squarish or back rounded fingerprint reader for bragging rights. Front square to match the screen shape or rounded in the back to match the round usual circle of the camera.
K. Couldn’t care less about NFC or HOTKNOT as long as there is one, for bragging rights once again.
L. Off screen gestures is a must, I’ve learned to love that stupid silliness a lot much more than what I spected. (Own a Ecoo 3gb e04)
M. A decent SoC or even an overclocked mtk6752 and up (except the 6753 for obvious reasons) would do as long as it is cheap enough not to be a Qualcomm …
After that mix I will fallow functionality over form, meaning, as long as it is not stupidly ugly I will throw my money over.

  Wow!! It’s like you just read my mind… I’ll opt for the HelioX10 as the processor… If there is a phone like this under $300, I’m sold..

      I really do like the IUNI U3 buh its lacking software development.. It still runs a buggy Kitkat version..
      Lenovo Vibe Z2 is humongous!!

        Vibe Z2 is also buggy in lolipop, kitkat runs reasonable but many people have broken mainboards on this phone.
        If there was a good stable rom for the iuni u3 i would buy it instantly

        We are on the same boat.. I dont like the Redmi Note 2.. I guess the camera is mediocre!

  I like most of those apart from the fingerprint reader.
  Not sure why so many people are convinced that biometric data is so necessary.

    For security reasons, it’s not that it will prevent the phone been stolen rather access to information in it. At least thats the idea they are after, and if the person how stole it is not an IT person usually some time of protection will keep your secrets safe and they will just wipe the phone clean in order to resell it.

      I’m more worried about the day when hackers can steal and then reuse your biometric information. How do you resolve that issue?
      It’s not as if you can get new, personalized fingerprints.

        If that would worry you, what about them hacking your both cameras in your phone and computer and seen you every move??? And what you do etc etc etc???

  its just you most of those specs I havevno desre to have in my phone. Especially 2k screen and CM.

    Those thing are my IDEAL things but they are flexible. For example screen size, I do prefer 5.5, and resolution, I do understand the community to prefer FHD as it’s more cost/effective so on that I agree. Granted not all Roms are for the taste of everyone, the idea I was after is if there was some option that a 3 party would offer to make the ROM for it as in an software centric company cathering hardware manufactures so they won’t mess up the fine machines they just built with crappy user interface that can’t make proper use of resources.

They sold many phones 1st year and if they has enough money for start, i think, it’s a good step to not to be depended from OPPO manufacturing, and have much more freedom for make their own phones. OP phones good enough, but it’s manufactures with Find7 body and (maybe) components. I dislike design of OPPO phones, it’s have sharp rectangles and not comfortable to speak more than 1-2 minutes( i Find5 owner with exactly the same body, but smaller). OP2 looks a few better, but pretty similar and still looks like OPPO phones.

They sold many phones 1st year and if they has enough money for start, i think, it’s a good step to not to be depended from OPPO manufacturing, and have much more freedom for make their own phones. OP phones good enough, but it’s manufactures with Find7 body and (maybe) components. With the success of the 1+2 it’s likely their investors have given them the go ahead to start a rapid expansion.
The 1+3 will likely be made with the current resources but the 1+4 is likely to be made by 1+ at their own factory.
