Meizu’s either trying very hard to be in the news all the time, or they have a killer product in the pipeline. That rhymed, but more importantly, we’ve gotten a sneak peek at what could be Meizu’s first 10-core phone with force touch.
After ZTE Axon Mini and the Huawei Mate S (and probably the next iPhone), the MX5 Pro could be the Meizu’s first force touch enabled phone. And this could very well come alongside the ‘NUIX’ phone that leaked recently with a Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, aka the chip that powers the Galaxy S6.
Information about this new model comes from nowhere else but AnTuTu, where the phone allegedly scores more than 70,000 points. Other info that the database leak confirms:
- 10-core MediaTek MT6797 SoC
- 1920 x 1080p FHD screen (underwhelmed?)
- 21.2 mega-pixel camera
- 72,968 AnTuTu score
The screenshot does say that the CPU has 8 cores, but according to the source that’s because of a bug on the app which doesn’t identify the 2x Cortex A72 cores besides the two clusters of 4x A53 cores.
MediaTek have impressed one and all with the new range of chipsets this year. Do you think Meizu needs an Exynos 7420 model besides this one? Considering this is real, that is…
Well, if Meizu’s next top model will be equipped with a Equinox SoC in combination with a 5,5″ screen, it would make sense to position another phone with a (5″?) FHD screen that’s slightly less powerful, i.e. the Helio X20.
Helio X20 is slightly less powerful than the Exynos 7420? Dude, do a little research before posting crap in here.
If the Helio X20 really scores approx 72K on antutu, it actually is more powerful than the Exynos 7420.
Agreed that Antutu is not that important when it comes to these super mobile chips. But you have to consider the fact that Exynos 7420 has 4x A53 and A57 cores while the Helio X20 has 8x A53 and 4x A72 (which are more powerful than the A57) cores.
So, in your opinion, which should be more powerful?
Mediatek Helio X20 MT6797 has only 2x A72
The X20 has 4x A53, 4x A57 and 2x A72. It should be more powerful than the 7420 in overall usage but it will fall behind in the GPU.
not just antutu the x20 has a72 cores which are way better then the a57 cores on the 7420
They use 25% less power & run 5% faster. The gpu on Exunos is at least 50% faster.
Mediatek Helio X20 MT6797 has only 2x A72 cores, compared to 4x A57 in the Samsung Exynos 7420. The GPU in exynos 7420 is also much better.
The front facing camera is important to me too. I hope they finally have an 8MP or better. Nice is it had auto-focus too. Surely the older 8MP components are now cheap.
Yeah this is one of the most expected features for me – i would really love a phone that would have such slo mo capabilities without need for a pro cam
Mediatek seems at home where others seem odd balls.
I can’t help to think Elephone Vowney is becoming old specs. The Helio X10 is already growing grey whiskers.
No 4K capable cpu and gpu, not interested. In 2016 I want a 4k ready phone for VR and this is not it.
No offense – but having hopes for portable vr as of now is pointless – Stick to the samsungs ( no joke ) for the best vr on the mobile market with features (as of now) But No fruckin content
This might mean that the chip has Mali 880MP4, which should score about 14-15k at 1080p and around 10k at 1440p.
Taking into the account that the X10 scores around 50k with 8A53 cores, the two extra A72 should boost about 10k in performance and the rest from the better GPU.
To conclude if Jiayu make a phone with the X20, I`m buying it without a doubt 😀
i have a feeling we will grow old by the time Jiayu releases a well packaged phone!
At Elephone rate you can expect the phone in 2021,
Remember, this is the “New” Jiayu 😀
I thought the GPU was twice as strong as the X10’s, but the X10 scores 12.8k in 3d at 1080p… which kinda says you think it is only ~10% more powerful.
