Micromax’s YU has seen plenty of success and positive feedback in India, and it’s not a mystery as to why. The company has managed to consistently pump out good smartphones at very attractive prices, and on top of that their phones also run CyanogenOS out of the box, which makes the devices very enticing. What YU does lack however is a proper flagship device, a problem they’re hoping to rectify with their upcoming flagship, the YU5050.
Recently leaked on India’s import export listing site Zauba, the YU5050 will be YU’s main flagship device with top of the line specs. According to a recent leak, the device may come in two variants. One will come with a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 5.2-FHD display. The higher end model will have a possibly higher clocked Snapdragon 810, along with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 5.2-QHD display. Both devices should come with 21MP rear cameras, 8MP front cameras and will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The other recently leaked YU device the YU4711, a low-end unit that recently made an appearance on Geekbench, and is much less interesting compared to the YU5050. The YU4711 appears to be running on the Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, along with a single GB of RAM. This could be an extremely cheap device made to compete with the Android One devices and other similar devices in India.
The YU5050 is estimated to be priced somewhere between RS20000 – 25000 ($300 – 374), thanks to a leaked import price from Zauba. This would put in direct competition with the recently announced OnePlus 2, and should result in some interesting comparisons. The YU4711 on the other hand has no news on it’s pricing, so we’ll have to wait for tomorrow for more news.
The YU5050 is set to be released on the 8th of September. How do you feel about these devices? Do you think you has a chance to give OnePlus a taste of it’s own medicine? Tell us down in the comments.
