Oukitel K4000 takes a hammer to the screen and survives

Oukitel are marketing their Oukitel K4000 as a big battery phone, but it can also take a knock too. Watch the phone survive a nasty hammer blow to the screen and survive.

We are seeing more and more smartphone that look like regular handsets but hide some hidden super power. Oukitel’s K4000 might actually be hiding two powers. The first being its ability to take repeated hammer blows to the display, and second the promise of long battery life from the 4000mAh battery.

In the video we see the K4000 hit with an iron hammer and remain operation. Part of the reason could be the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display the phone is packing, and it might also partly due to the fact the phone is resting on a box rather than a solid surface.

Oukitel are telling us that the K4000 has a stand by time of 7 days, so around 2 days of heavy usage is what we are expecting from the device.

That’s nice. Where are the nuts? Or are they not confident enough in their nut breaking abilities?

I’d be more impressed if they hit the screen on the edges as when you drop a phone that’s usually where it takes the hit. This is no different from hitting a double glazed window, the hammer will bounce off it unless you hit one of the corners and then the whole thing will shatter.
