Today it was the turn of PPTV to make an announcement for its new phone, and as rumoured suggested the device packs a 6-inch 2K display.
PPTV launched its first ever Android smartphone today. The event didn’t have the same amount of grandeur as LETV’s launches, but the phone at the center of attention is something rather interesting.
Just as earlier reports had suggested before the launch, the PPTV King 7S phone comes with a 6-inch 2K 3D display. The panel, attached to an all alloy chassis, is a glasses free 3D panel meaning you don’t need to wear glasses to enjoy 3D video and photos. We have seen this technology used in the past, even on an early Zopo phone, but never on a panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
With that display demanding plenty of power we wondered which processor PPTV would opt for and it turns outs that Mediatek have won another round. The chip in the PPTV King 7S is an octa-core MT6795 processor with 3GB RAM, 32GB memory and space to slot in a 128GB SD card.
Cameras on the phone are an 8 mega-pixel front and 13 mega-pixel rear. Interestingly, with only one rear camera, this 3D phone isn’t likely to be able to take 3D photos. The battery is a 3610mAh, not the largest we have seen and surprisingly small considering the screen and 3D features.
HIFI audio, and dual 4G LTE with support for FDD-LTE networks is part of the package. The 3D packing PPTV King 7S will cost 2699 Yuan in China while a non 3D version called the King 7 will cost 2199 Yuan.
