We know there isn’t going to be a Meizu MX5 Pro this time round, but Meizu’s ‘Go Pro’ invite has caused a bit of a stir. The invite means that despite there being no MX5 Pro, there still will be a ‘Pro’ phone.
According to Chinese media, the new phone may be known as the Meizu Pro 5. If this is to hold true, it would mean that there’ll be an entirely new lineup of Meizu phones, i.e., the Pro lineup.
What we know so far about the device is that: it’ll launch September 23rd; invitees get a GoPro camera embedded in the invite; the phone will have a 1080p screen (5.5-inch most likely) and will cost quite a bit more than the MX5, perhaps somewhere around the 3000 Yuan (US$470) mark.
Pictures of the packaging for the Meizu Pro 5 have leaked, depicting a dark black box with the model name embedded on top in gold, clearly deviating from the bubbly and colorful (in the insides) and plain white packaging of the old Meizu.
What do you expect from this new phone from Meizu?
…and it will probably use Samsung’s mid-range (by now) offering (especially when compared to Helio X20 and Apple A9). Repeat of what happened yesteryear when the MX pro was actually slower than MX regular or other MT6595 phones.
From time to time I struggle to understand Meizu’s naming scheme.
