Meizu finally announced the much talked about PRO lineup of phones earlier today. As expected, the series will consist of high-end phones from the Chinese phone maker.
Meizu’s next-in-line, the PRO 5 also gets a launch date; the phone will launch 25th September, which is about two weeks from now. Rumours point to two versions of the Meizu PRO 5; one powered with the Samsung Exynos 7420 (i.e., the chip that sails the boat for the S6 and S6 edge) along with another deca-core MediaTek MT6797 powered one.
Meizu’s Li Nan is known to be vocal, a bit too much sometimes. The company exec didn’t mince words today when he commented on the PRO series launch.
“A lot of consumer high-end smartphone OEM’s are blindly following the trend, rather than to really solve the fundamental problems. Many of the domestic flagship devices are using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but the user experience sucks, consumers are often being fooled, sadly, no one in the industry is ready to tell the truth, but Meizu hopes that by publishing this sub-brand ‘PRO’ they change this status” he said.
The PRO 5 has suffered innumerable leaks now. A 5.5-inch 1080p display (because Meizu thinks 2K is illogical), 21 mega-pixel rear camera, and 3/4GB RAM options are what we expect to see on the new PRO 5 phones.
The current-gen MX5 is a fairly impressive phone, especially when you take into consideration the starting price of 1799 Yuan. The PRO 5 series will, however, be more expensive with reports suggesting a starting price of 3000 Yuan.
So its basically an MX5 with a faster chip for a lot more money. Not sure I get the point of this phone at all.
they did in the past too.
the MX4 PRO was discontinued while the mediatek version is still on sale (Ubuntu version).
so yes, i don’t get the point either.
At least the PRO had a 2k screen and fingerprint scanner which differentiated it. This just has a new SoC, the X10 isn’t as powerful as Sammies, but for 99% of the people looking at these phones it is more than powerful enough.
The audio in the MX5 is good, it’s not on Vivo level but its not horrible either.
oneplus2 not have good audio and cant make 60fps 1080p shame performance, but mX5 can make 60fps ?
Yea but audophiles make up a very very small percentage of smartphone buyers. For most people that look at phones it doesn’t even register as one of their top needs.
