Regardless of how much we hate knock off phones, there is always a small space in hour hearts for GooPhone. They are the originators of knock-off and they are back with the GooPhone i6S iPhone 6S clone!
GooPhone are one of the mysteries of the Chinese phone world. I’ve lost count how many hands the company has gone through, but no matter who has them or how hard Apple (and others) try, this knock-off maker seems to be impossible to shake.
GooPhone are also odd in the fact that they actually turned making a clone in to an art form. They were one of the first clone maker to use metal bodies, and build their own custom ROMs to look like Apple’s iOS. The amount of effort they actually go is quite incredible, and I’ve always wondered what they might have accomplished if they built their own unique phone models.
The wondering will have to continue though as GooPhone seem set to make knock off after knock off, their latest being a clone of the iPhone 6S. Yes, that’s the newest iPhone on the market and only launched last week!
The GooPhone i6S has an alloy body available in pink, gold, silver and grey and get a 4.7-inch 1280 x 800 screen. Specifications claim the phone has a Mediatek MT6592 chipset, but the company go on to admit that the system says another processor is installed. Other details include 1GB RAM, 8GB memory, 8 mega-pixel main camera and 5 mega-pixel front.
Android 4.2 is quite old, but GooPhone have worked their magic to give it an iOS 9 theme, which includes icons, and even animations from the Apple mobile OS.
At $269 it’s easy to see why people are tempted to buy one of these clones, but personally we would suggest keeping well clear of any GooPhone product. Sure we have a soft spot for the company just as we do the cheeky chimney sweep in Mary Poppins, but we would never want to invite him home and we would never part with our own cash for a GooPhone.
