Omate has been known as one of the first in the industry to debut its standalone Android smartwatch before Samsung ever arrived with the Gear S last year, but the first Omate TrueSmart watch didn’t turn out so well. Omate went back to the drawing board to bring out a series of watches that are both Android and iOS-compatible, but the company is back with a full-fledged Android smartwatch that works as a standalone and runs full apps.
The new smartwatch is called the Omate TrueSmart+, and it comes with a 1.54-inch TFT LCD screen with a 320 x 320p resolution, a 700mAh battery, a 1Ghz MediaTek MT6572M processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. The Omate TrueSmart+will run on Android’s latest update (Android 5.1 Lollipop), not Android Wear, with Omate’s own OUI 3.0 “skin” on top. The device features full standalone apps and the device can make calls without Bluetooth connectivity to your phone. Omate says it has included an Ocharger that works with the new Omate TrueSmart+ as well as the first-generation Omate TrueSmart. The TrueSmart+ will cost $169 and can be pre-ordered between today, September 22nd, and October 15th. The Omate TrueSmart+ will ship in November.
For those who prefer an alternative, Omate has a TrueSmart-i wrist wearable with a 1.54-inch display with a 240 x 240p screen resolution, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a 5MP camera that can record 720p video. The TrueSmart-i costs $149 and ships next month.
If you’re interested, you can pre-order either of these from Omate’s website below. The TrueSmart-i has sold out at the moment, though the Omate TrueSmart+ is still up for grabs.
