As expected (and leaked, and rumoured, and speculated), Xiaomi has made official the Mi 4c smartphone.
It shares quite a lot with the Mi4i which was launched in India in April this year, but improvements have been attempted on areas where the Mi 4i has lacked. This includes a RAM update; the Mi4c will come not only in a 2GB RAM version but also a slightly expensive 3GB RAM variant.
Coming to the specifications, the Mi4c will come with the 64-bit hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor along with the Adreno 418 GPU. The display will remain the same elegant 5-inch 1920 x 1080p Sunlight Display panel we saw on the Mi4i, but will come from either Sharp or AUO or LG this time.
Moving on, the Mi 4c will again share the main camera resolution with the Mi 4i at 13 mega-pixel. It’ll either be a Sony IMX258 sensor or the Samsung S5K3M2. Interestingly, Xiaomi have added PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) to the Mi 4c.
There’s a couple more interesting additions too, in an IR blaster which supports 2000+ appliances, including DSLR cameras, according to Xiaomi. The other addition is what Xiaomi call ‘Edge Tap’, where the phone will respond to light taps on either side. In the company’s words, ‘both sides of Mi 4c respond to light taps (for example, double tap to go back, single tap to snap a photo in Camera, among others).’
Gizchina News of the week
A 3080mAh battery will ship with the Mi 4c, which will support Quick Charge 2.0 with the bundled USB Type-C cable.
A common gripe that Xiaomi users have had with their phones is lack of the very popular Double Tap to Wake feature. The Mi 4c will support this out of the box.
The 2GB RAM/16GB ROM version will be 1299 Yuan (US$203) while the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM Mi 4c will go for 1499 Yuan (US$235). The lack of an initial 32GB ROM version for the Mi 4i drew flak for Xiaomi, and they’ve certainly addressed the issue with the new Mi 4c.
can i get Mi 4c with 3GB RAM but with 16GB ROM and not 32GB ROM, because i dont need 32GB, and if want more then i will go and buy micro-sd of 64GB
And where exactly will you put that micro-sd in the Mi4c if I may ask? For me 32GB is the minimum if there is no micro-sd support but I prefer 64GB.
Yep, shows how much they care about the European market. This didn’t come as a surprise though since they never really supported this band.
Ah well, one more week and the N5 will be presented which has similar specs but a higher price. I prefer stock Android over MIUI anyways.
They don’t care about the B20 band because it’s irrelevant at this point, all the the 4 G traffic is handle by the 1800,unless H+ is not good enough for you on the Montblanc peak
“It’ll either be a Sony IMX258 sensor or the Samsung S5K3M2” how do you know which is which ???
Xiaomi do this quite often on their phones. I all depends on the stock and which factory is handling the manufacture
daaaayum! what a nice device.
Damn, 3/32 will be around 300$ after resellers. Will have to wait for a price drop.
to start with yes, but those prices will drop once production speeds up
Don’t care, just gimme an option to buy it today 😀
still cheaper than anything else out there
Got my Honor 6 for 199$(don`t ask how), so hard to beat that. Would have gone for the Snapdragon 808 at around 250$, but need the 3/32 version, nothing else will do for me.
I’ve got a OPO 64GB bamboo edition for free (don’t ask me how)
a quick look at the prices of the old Honor 6 3/32 and i see that average reseller price is about 300$. the 3/16 if about 275$.
if you got the 3/32 version of the honor 6 @ 199$ then you got a good deal, but i can’t find that price anywhere.
for 300$ you can get the OPO 3/64 which in my opinion is a better deal.
Any news on if it supports wireless charging. Otherwise it ticks pretty much all the boxes
at least it has fast charge 2.0 on usb type-C !
Looking at you OP2
Just realised no NFC either. Hmm. So the only leg up to OP2 is the quick charging. Now less boxes being ticked.
Now, lets wait for re sellers to drop price on Redmi Note 2 😛
Xiaomi killed there own MI NOTE lineup with this phone, providing 3gb RAM and SD808….
Killer device and hence it will be hard to get in INDIA with flash sales….
It would kill Mi 4i rather than Mi Note, but Mi 4c seems a China only device.
So it wouldn’t be hard to get it via flash sales outside China, it will be impossible.
No microSD so Xiaomi still has no shame. They behave like the worst of us and always find excuses to do so. Other then this lack of decency and ethics , it would have been nice if it was SD620 for much better CPU perf and less overheating (SD808 is clocked too high too).
Honestly the bigger news today was that they launched as a MVNO. You can’t revolutionize pricing as a MVNO but you do gain some flexibility.
hm I wonder why do you need microsd?
I had one scenario where microsd was needed: imroting new photos from my dslr to post them on the internet, but now we have wifi card for 15 dollars
32GB is not satisfactory? And where have you seen sd620? It just doesnt exist yet, equally to sd820.
This phone looks like mi2 in 2012. But, mi2 was more powerful for that time.
i’d like a SD card slot too but i understand that they are a business.why do they have to bother to put a sd card slot when they still sell 100K in few seconds?
if I’m not wrong they also sell this kind of phone for the cheapest.
i will agree with you if you find me a phone with these specs for the same price with sd card slot, otherwise what you are saying is just nonsense.
i think it’s more immoral to sell devices like this for 400$+ even if they have sd card slot.
that’s why i would always pick Xiaomi over anything else that sells twice the price.
you really get me curious though.
why don’t suggest us what I’m your opinion would be the best deal nowadays (budget-middle-flagship).
mine would be:
Redmi Note 2
MI4c or LeTV x600
Honor7 or MX5 or OPT
(…so far)
You expect too much for the price. It’s got the same processor as the nexus 5x but costs half as much.
