Xiaomi’s new Bluetooth speakers with their all metal body are $31

You’ll likely have read about the all new Xiaomi Mi 4c already. If you haven’t, you totally should.

Besides the Mi 4c, today’s announcement saw the company turn into a network carrier (kind of) with Mi Mobile besides the launch of the new Xiaomi Bluetooth speakers.

At 199 Yuan (US$31), the new Bluetooth speakers from one of the largest smartphone manufacturers seem like decent value. They come with an all metal body, and promise to fit in your pocket.

Gizchina News of the week

As for the tech specs, these speakers feature a volume of up to volume up to 90dB(A) @0.5m, along with some other goodies such as an Avnera AV3102 chip to clean out the sound, a built-in bass radiator, and more.

Besides Bluetooth, the speakers can read music files off of a microSD card. They’ll come covered in an all-metal body, with a battery life of up to 8 hours.

Again, pricing in China is 199 Yuan (US$31). You can soon expect resellers to start offering this at around US$50 shipped. We recently reviewed the Nationite BQ2 Bluetooth speakers that we found to be pretty impressive as well. Xiaomi speakers are available online through shop.gizchina.com.

I was looking at this on the MI site yesterday, looks good. I was impressed by the latest round bluetooth speaker(which sounds OK and has exceptional battery life for what it costs), which I bought for my sister (for about £15 delivered to the UK).

I will be interested to see this reviewed and compared to the other/previous Xiaomi offerings and competitors.

If it’s half-decent, I will buy one, when they come down under the £25 delivered threshold.
