Zeaplus isn’t a company that Chinese phone enthusiasts will remember off the top of their heads, but every now and then Zeaplus do seem to come out with something worth the headlines. And they seem to have a penchant for devices that please the eye.
The new Zeaplus K18 is another such device. It’s essentially a smartwatch (with a round dial), but not a run-of-the-mill one. It comes with full Android (you read right, not Android Wear but full Android), albeit a depreciated version in 4.4 KitKat.
Besides that, the Zeaplus K18 also accepts SIM cards and consequently, has the ability to make calls and provide access to the web without needing a smartphone paired with it.
As for the tech specs, the Zeaplus K18 has a 1.4-inch 400 x 400 pixel AMOLED display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of on-board storage and a MediaTek 1.2GHz processor (model unspecified). The K18 measures 47 × 58 × 13mm and will come in Black, Silver and Gold colours.
If you’ve used any of the smartwatches that come from China, you, like me, probably haven’t been left impressed. However, with companies like Elephone and Mlais working on Android Wear smartwatches, and ones like Zeaplus doing full Android watches, the end of 2015 should bring something worth considering for lovers of wearable tech.
