Elephone Vowney 4GB and Vowney Lite teaser video highlights what you’ll love most

Elephone, as we told you a few weeks back, is preparing to release the Elephone Vowney 4GB smartphone next month, but, as to be expected, the company also wants to showcase the features of the smartphone that will stand out to tech-savvy consumers. To that end, Elephone has now published a video pointing out the specifications of the upcoming device.

What are the specs and features of the Elephone Vowney 4GB? A 5.5-inch, 2K display with a 2,560 x 1440p (535ppi), an 8MP front camera, 21MP back camera with Sony’s IMX 230 camera sensor, 4K video playback and 120fps slow-motion video recording, a 64-bit, octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, 4GB of RAM (for which the Vowney 4GB is named), and 32GB of ROM, alongside of 4G connectivity on TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks. The Elephone Vowney 4GB will come in gray (or aluminum), gold, black, and white colors and cost $299.99.

The Vowney Lite, a second Vowney device, will feature a Full HD display with a 1920 x 1080p screen resolution (400ppi), 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of ROM (with all other specs and features remaining the same) and the price will be under $250. Both devices will feature a fingerprint scanner that can be used to unlock the lock screen. Elephone showcases its 360-degree rotational fingerprint recognition to show that, unlike some smartphone models, its Vowney 4GB and 3GB smartphones will work no matter how you place your finger on the sensor (which is located on the back of the phone, right below the camera).

Any info on Vowney model B (dual boot)?
I mean Vowney is great et al, but it’s mostly business as usual. Model B was supposed to be the first phone-like device ( in the whole history of humanity) to natively boot into a desktop OS. Imagine your phone turning into your (full fledged) PC when you’re back home (and connect it to a monitor) and then back to your phone when you’re back on the road… So -yeah- any idea when that (and if it) comes out?

      The SIM slots are on the side, so the animation alludes to two SD slots inside. Maybe that’s how they claim the SD is 128GB max, in 64GB x 2.

I’ve already put my pre-order in as I haven’t seen any competition and my major concern was the currency rate declining in my region against the USD.

  To replace my PC. I’ve created a couple of light weight goggles with non curved mirrors for desktop use. I can already do it with my current phone , but I need to stream from my PC on android. With Model B I could have my phone turn into a 23 inch PC just by wearing the goggles …
  It would be one device to replace all. Unfortunately -I think- Elephone scrapped the idea so P8000 remains their best phone by far (released sources + a great community).

  Nice idea. Well, I disagree with you on 1 point. The P8000 isn’t better on all features. P8000 doesn’t have OTG and doesn’t have NFC. Everything P8000 has has Vowney also (incl Gorilla Glass), the only thing is the battery. P8000 has just a little bit more mAh. But Vowney on the other hand support also TD-LTE (band 40) AND FDD-LTE band 1 (2100 MHz frequency) as well in comparison with the P8000.

  It does have released sources and a community support and custom Kernels. Those things beat by far the lack of NFC or OTG in my opinion. For example the community added “double tap to wake” feature and now they’re trying to bring OTG. Also the community is to update the phone into Android 6 and possibly into Android 7 (when those come out). Vowney -like the rest of the Elephones- will possibly won’t get many upgrades.

The official site doesn’t mention NFC but elephonemobile.com does and they have updated their specification to suit official site.
I purchased of elephonemobile.com as I could pick black colour which they have listed as grey in sale page. In their spec page they only are selling gold and black colour. I contacted the company and said I only want black so there’s no confusion in sending a silver one.

Are they drunk at Elephone? Helios X10 GPU PowerVR 6200 is barelly handling FullHD and they pushed there 2,560 x 1440p?

Ah the mysterious, elusive Vowney. Will we ever see it released? And what will the final spec be? Why Android 5.1 when the P9000, which could very well appear before the Vowney, will ship with Marshmallow 6.1? Why has the dual-boot Win10/Android version scrapped, with no explanation?

I just bought a brand new lg g4 for $330 this week. the vowney seems overpriced considering resellers will mark up the price to $350.
