Sad to see that Gizchina is changing to a promotion site for their own shop.

Can you see they slashed the price almost in half?! They always did some articles about crazy deals and price slashes… Now don’t act so arsh just because it’s their own shop: if they won’t say this, who will?! Coolicool’s forum?!

Agree! I did not see anyone complain on those “giz20” discount Coupon articles for other stores.

On a different note, maybe it’s a good time for @Andi to register a mother company, the way Google did with Alphabet.

I own the Meizu Mx5 and use GPS everyday for work. I have used it in 8 different countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, USA, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Taiwan) and have had no issues.

The 32 bit Mediatek SoC’s were terrible with GPS, I could never keep a signal. The newer 64 bit SoC’s are excellent.

Quote from XDA “Guys, i got a LeTV x600 with the same Soc, Helios X10.
It locks in 15+ sattelites and the signal strengh is great, however it has a nasty bug/problem. When driving/in motion, the accuracy error goes high, not the usual 2-3 meters. At 50km/h may be 25m, at 80km/h it’s 35 meters of accuracy error. It appears that Meizu MX5, with the same X10, has the very same problem! This cause some delays and jumping on map apps.

Can anyone here please test this bug? You can use GPS Test (by default the error is in feet) or other GPS testing app that has accuracy error. Or, simply go to Engineer Mode > Location > YGPS > Information, the font is small there, so be carefull while driving!

With all due respect to you and your friends, most smarphones reviewers don’t know how to review GPS performance.

              Typical GPS review:
“GPS lock is fast, so hummm yeah it must be good”

              Hummmm, no.

              October 6, 2015

I guess some people think that when i write these comments, i’m trolling. But then even with the THL 5000, i had total crap GPS performance, the kind that makes you pull all of your hair on situations where you really have to find the damn place, yet some people said it was ok for them. Maybe there’s something on my car’s windshield that messes with the GPS. Funny it didn’t do a thing to a Samsung S4, where it was the smothest GPS i’ve seen.

I don’t know, how there are so different opinions on the same device.

Again, i’m not saying the GPS on the x600 sucks, but there are certain situations where it leaves something to be desired. I want my next phone to have a non-mediatek chip.

I’m waiting anxiously for balco’s friends review site, as most reviews out there are amateur at best. Nowadays, anyone can get a phone and upload a “review” to youtube.

              October 5, 2015

Actually this quote is mine. I think people that say it has NOT GPS issues, are driving on highways (with no roads nearby to confuse the maps app) or are slow drivers 😛

On a city center with many streets nearby, driving at medium/fast speed it has problems. At least MY phone has this problem. I think that if you use on USA, where cities aren’t “tight” as in Europe, you won’t have such problems.

Normally, GPS has an accuracy error of 2-3 meters no matter your speed, not with this phone, higher the speed, high the accuracy error. I clearly can see the big blue bubble (which is the accuracy error diameter) on MAPS.ME app and other apps too. No wonder, the app doesn’t know if i went straigth ahead or took a left turn. After a while it corrects tough.

Now, i’m not saying the GPS is unusuable, no, not that, but still it has problems. and enough to make me pull some hair. An user said that MX5 has this high accuracy error problem, so it must be a Helios X10 problem.

            • balcobomber25
              October 5, 2015

Andi didn’t review the MX5, Yash did. I never experienced any lag with it and neither did anyone on the Meizu forums I belong too which leads me to believe the culprit was an app he was using.

Yes roni24. I couldn’t agree more. That’s madness go have a screen more than full hd. Unless you’ve got a vr headset. Even then, no point to it. Your TV screen is likely to be a 40 inch full hd panel. Yet your 6 inch phone is 2k. Madness. Plus sd810 is a poor chipset.

Yes, but I guess you are talking about LeTV S1 16GB, but Andi offers LeTV S1 PRO 32GB. These are two different mobiles. 😉

Yes roni24. I couldn’t agree more. That’s madness go have a screen more than full hd. Unless you’ve got a vr headset. Even then, no point to it. Your TV screen is likely to be a 40 inch full hd panel. Yet your 6 inch phone is 2k. Madness. Plus sd810 is a poor chipset.

how is it with lagging etc like Andy described earlier here with his review of MX5?

    • balcobomber25
      October 5, 2015

Andi didn’t review the MX5, Yash did. I never experienced any lag with it and neither did anyone on the Meizu forums I belong too which leads me to believe the culprit was an app he was using.

    • balcobomber25
      October 5, 2015

Actually checked with a few friends who are tech journalists in Germany, France, Poland and Italy. All of them used the MX5 GPS without issues when they were testing it.

With all due respect to you and your friends, most smarphones reviewers don’t know how to review GPS performance.

      Typical GPS review:
“GPS lock is fast, so hummm yeah it must be good”

      Hummmm, no.

      October 7, 2015

Is there any way we can see all the news on this site by date or something? The layout is quite similar to “The Verge”, and is pain to navigate!

I read through that thread an no one can provide any definitive proof that they are actually using Band 20. It would be great for those of you in Europe if this does actually work, but I see these posts on every new phone released and most of them turn out to be false. I would be cautious if your buying this phone with the intention that it will work on 20.

            • A.R. Kolleman
              October 4, 2015

I’ll probably get one of these phones in a few weeks and I will try it myself. I’m not buying it for the 20 band because here I can also use a few other bands on 4G.

You can share links on here without issue…

      http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/letv-one-max1-x900-main-thread-t3170154/page2

There are some people who claimed they found a way but no one actually confirms it. The reason I ask is because there is no software trick to unlock a frequency band if the phone doesn’t have the required antennae to begin with.
