8-core MediaTek MT6755 aka Helio P10 benchmarks surface

MediaTek is getting prepared to announce its second-generation, mid-range octa-core processor by year’s end, and today’s evidence highlights the company’s upcoming intention. The MediaTek MT6755 processor, known also as the MediaTek Helio P10, is said to provide support for Full HD, 1080p displays, 21MP back cameras as well as 16MP+8MP dual camera setups, first-time LTE category 6 support, Ultra HD video recording for back cameras along with 2Ghz clocked speeds for its eight Cortex A53 cores.

Documents mention the MediaTek MT6755 processor under “CPU,” and a 4.6-inch, Full HD display is hinted at in the GFXBench documentation. MediaTek will utilize the new Mali T860 GPU, as opposed to the current Mali T760 GPU with the first-generation, mid-range MT6752 processor. The new Mali T860 GPU is 20% better-performing and consumes 70% less energy than the Mali T760, so the MediaTek MT6755 processor should perform better than its older, octa-core “sibling.” MediaTek sized up the new Mali T860 GPU against the Mali T760 GPU in the Meizu M1 Note to measure its performance.

We don’t know yet when MediaTek will announce the new MT6755 processor, but we’ll be back to bring you more when the announcement falls.

  It seems like a chip to bring mid-range prices phones up to date with camera needs. Like 13MP/5MP is now a bad selling point. 16MP/8MP is the base for tecnos.

  As Rob said, probably not… The clock is lower, and the gpu (which is actually better then the one in x10) probably will be downsized to an mp2… Still it should be faaar better than the mt6753!

  Let’s be really honest it’s a 16% faster & consumes couple of procents less energy clock per clock. The performance bar rises for about additional 20% if the hardware testilation block is utilized but it won’t be anytime soon.

Seems decent but as an owner of the Helio X10 powered Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 I don’t really see much to impress me here …. maybe the GPU is better but other than that ….

  MALI T860 MP2 is worse than Rogue Gfx 6200 but it’s also significantly smaller on silicon. If hardware testilation is used it will be a little faster but don’t expect games utilizing it any time soon. Rogue series have working & enabled (used) Open CL driver so the tasks related to standard multimedia (as gallery) that are not processed by specialized media accelerators (DSP’s, ASICS) are accelerated but this is not good way to go as it consumes a lot of power.

    Hehe, you seem to know your stuff so I can’t contradict you here since I don’t really know much about mobile GPUs.
    I know I did test the Helio X10 GPU and it scored about half of what the Adreno 330 in the Snapdragon 801 did. So even the X10 is not a great performer as far asa the GPU is concerned.
    Then again I couldn’t care less about the GPU as I don’t play games and other than that even a Mali 400 will do for basic UI acceleration.

      It’s becoming much a like desktop GPU’s but on the smaller scale.
      Let’s say the performance gap between PowerVR & MALI is becoming small so the expected gap will be only about 15% in favor of PowerVR SGX 6200. One thing that power Imagination is much more superior to ARM or Qualcomm is a driver division.
      You can find this yourself by using Delphine emulator on Android. Besides it’s most advanced by its implemented graphics abilities (functions) it’s emulator so it shows all driver & architecture flows.
      You are missing a lot of fun as lots of old PC title’s had & are having remakes on mobile platform. So if you missed some it’s a right time to play them. ?

        I hope it’s something interesting as their is much things going on in embedded would, reparations for the first real wave of IoT are in full swing.
        I hope you wouldn’t mind if I ask you do you know where culd I find a nice wite sheet for the ARM’s cortex M7? Would like to calculate it’s base efficiency metric & litle more for a base self stand implementation (MMU + caches). ARM papers are useless. Did a same two days ago for new MIPS M 6250 but that whose easy. M7 sounds remarkable on paper but I am eager to see a little more.

        Yes.
        ARM did improve on the quality of Mali driver’s but yes they are far far behind Imagination PowerVR division. I mentioned a “Dolphine” as it’s most graphically advanced (EGLS 3) so it really stress hardware (as interpreter & it’s GPU intense). Not keen of either implemented solution power efficiency @ GPU side.
        When it comes to GPU in the budget category Zenphone 2 still holds it’s grounds & X86 native support is getting better… but that’s a different story as it’s sponsored device.

  As Rob said, probably not… The clock is lower, and the gpu (which is actually better then the one in x10) probably will be downsized to an mp2… Still it should be faaar better than the mt6753!

GPS Stats (No data connection, **device only mode**):
MT6589 – Crappiest of them all, 20 minutes+ cold lock time, assists needed (EPO etc.)
MT6592 – Another trainwreck – mostly unfixable, as poor as the 6589
MT6582 – Very slight improvement, but still ridiculously poor compared to SD chips
MT6583 – Decent under open skies, but still 2 minutes+, very dangerous for driving
MT6595 – Premium grade CPU, poo grade GPS – akin to the 6589
MT6595M / MT6595T – Poo is still poo no matter the variant.
MT6752 – Once again, too many issues without data connection or EPO assist
MT6753 – Not tested
MT6795 – Reportedly ok, but cold lock times (device only) are very high.
MT6797 – Not tested.
Questions for those who can answer:
1. Why does MediaTEK GPS (device only) perform as good as the SD series without assists and data connections?
2. Why does MediaTEK continue to ignore this aspect release after release?

  I actually tried a 6595 Lenovo Vibe X2 for months and the GPS was working fine, a friend of mine has the Umi Iron 6753, says GPU works like a charm.
  As far as previous generation MTK chips(6589, 6592, 6582) are concerned, GPS was really poor, but now it`s quite adequate, unless really crappy Chinese vendor didn’t do the software correctly.

      Dude, this is a fake replica phone, it probably has 512MB of RAM and Dual Core CPU, so next time buy from trusted vendors, not aliexpress “lucrative” deals. It`s probably the old 6572 chips(dual core ARM A7 at 1.2Ghz with Mali 400MP)

        So how does it trick Antutu and other hardware checking apps? 50% of them say 4GB and 6752 and for sure the screen is higher res than 540p, the max possible on a 6572?? I installed Nova Launcher and it is 10x as fast on the home screens, UI and launching apps now. Either way it’s fine for £60 for now.

Probably a higher clocked 860MP2, as there is no space on the die at 28nm for a bigger chip, and pretty sure the X20 will rock the 860MP4 configuration with the deca core CPU(it is getting quite ridiculous with those cores). Giving both chips true mid and high end range, as the X20 will be roughly 30-40% faster in all synthetic benchmarks.
I expect the P10 to be a notch above the X10, maybe at around 55k Antutu(as CPU score will be lower, but GPU score will be higher)

In my opinion apart from the upgraded GPU, Mali-T880MP2 this isn’t is a big upgrade for MT6752, but should be for MT6753. This one if I’m not wrong also runs in BIG.little architheture and not full 8 cores at 2.0, but could have been changed.
