Bad news for anyone waiting to get their hands on the Meizu Pro 5 smartphones, as the device will be delayed by up to 1 month due to flooding at a factory in Guangdong.
If you had been waiting to put down a pre-order deposit for your Meizu Pro 5 then you might want to hold off for a little while longer. The 2799 Yuan Meizu flagship was announced a few weeks ago with a launch date of mid October, however due to adverse weather conditions and damage at a factory manufacturing has been delayed.
Gizchina News of the week
Meizu representatives have explained that a serious storm in Guangdong has resulted in a factory flooding delaying manufacture of the unibody chassis by at least 1 month. The announcement only mentions that the Meizu Pro 5 production line has been affected with no mention of Meizu MX5 issues.
The Pro 5 is the latest (8th) phone that the Zhuhai smartphone maker has released in the past 12 months. The device features the largest display of any Meizu phone at 5.7-inch and has a similar all alloy body to the MX5. Meizu will sell the Samsung Exynos 7420 powered phone in China from 2799 Yuan, while prices in Europe are expecting to by as much as double that.
Will this delay mean that you will buy a different Chinese flagship smartphone, or will you wait for the Pro 5?
For my part I’m probably gonna wait it out. Impressed with the M2 Note so far, so can hold on a bit to upgrade to their next big thing.
