The entry-level budget-friendly market is growing, with high-end devices taking a dive in demand these days. There was a time when every high-end device had the necessary features that every smartphone consumer labeled “convenient,” but even budget-friendly handsets are offering the necessities these days. Alcatel’s OneTouch Idol 3 has proven that low-end handsets are anything but obsolete, and the company is now back with a smartphone launch for US carrier T-Mobile. The new phone in question is the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL.
Gizchina News of the week
The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is said to feature a 5.5-inch, HD display with a 1280 x 720p screen resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 2,500mAh battery. A new tweet yesterday by retired leakster @evleaks provides an interesting new puzzle piece: the OneTouch Fierce XL will also be offered in both Android and Windows Phone versions. There is no dual-OS booting at play here, but buyers will get to choose whether or not they want an Android OneTouch Fierce XL or a Windows Phone OneTouch Fierce XL. This is an excellent decision by Alcatel to offer consumers more choice over their OS, not forcing consumers to purchase one or the other (even if market demand is higher in one regard than another).
There’s no word on when T-Mobile USA customers can expect the OneTouch Fierce XL to touch down officially, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for the definitive moment. For now, however, we’re glad to see Alcatel continue to bring its budget-friendly handsets to T-Mobile USA, and we look forward to seeing how T-Mobile customers will embrace the OneTouch Fierce XL.
