Cubot X16 will cost only $76.99 this week, first photos here

Cubot are woking with reseller Coolicool to offer the Cubot X16 at a cut down price of only $76.99 being held on the 21st October.

Anyone who is interested in buying the Cubo X16 can do so now at the regular retail price of $144.99, but if you can hold on until the 21st of the month the slim handset will be offered at just $76.99 for a limited time.

The flash sale will be held with conjunction of online reseller Coolicool, and will likely be a one time deal only valid until stocks run out, which shouldn’t take all that long at this low price.

While we haven’t tried the Cubot X16, it does tick all the right boxes on paper. The phone features a 6.2mm body with metal frame, 5-inch 2.5D 1920 x 1080 FHD display from JDI, Mediatek MT6735 chipset, LTE, 2GB RAM and Android 5.1 Lollipop. At $144.99 the price is good, but at only $76.99 it is a steal!

    Yes but it is clocked really low and there’s the P version that goes down to 1 GHz … I’m just a bit worried that it will be sluggish.

      It shouldn’t be, unless Cubot have done a really bad job at optimizing the software. I’ve got a MTK6735 powered Meizu M2 which I’ve had for nearly two weeks, and it is always very fast, with never any lag. I have not used it for any high end gaming, but, in day to day use it runs flawlessly.

        Meizu M2 (Mini) works great (bought it for my daughter), but it’s not a fHD screen – huge difference.

        Yes, GUI is also something I’m worried about, this SOC isn’t made for FHD.

      It depends what you use your phone for. if you play games at all (anything above the simple candy crush style games) or you edit a lot of photos/videos it is probably not the chip for you. If you just use your phone for the basics (photos, light gaming, music, youtube/netflix, facebook etc) it is more than powerful enough.

        Well games can suck ( and will because of the FHD display ) on this one, I’m just not sure about a 1GHz SOC… and A53s aren’t really that great either … I do wonder how they’d stack up against my old LG Optimus G ( E975 ) which has 1.5 GHz cores.

Flash sale could basically mean only 5 units or 10 units based on other flash sales coolicool have at the moment. Chances you are going to buy this phone is very slim

  Soooooo true.
  The histories their customers, are close to unbelievable. CC agents reply, they’ve taken care already and then you see it’s an offer like Chico mentioned. Other things would be not collecting your parcels to them, or sending you back your unrepaired phone while claiming it’s a replacement.
  These guys are a joke.
  Paying even 76$ for a broken phone is no business at all.

Last wednesday, they had Umi emax mini for 75 usd, but I doubt anyone got phone for that price…I waited for the countdown and when it reached zero, it was already gone…no real chance to get the phone. Just cheap marketing trick…

I have taken part in a few of CooliCool and Antelife’s flash sales. It is a real thing and I have been lucky enough to purchase a few deals but they usually have very low stock.

        I used it for 2 weeks and it was okay but it didn’t wow me. At the end of those two weeks I was excited to use my MX5 again.

        I played with it for less than 10mins, so I shouldn’t be qualified to say it but what felt is that:
        Oxygen OS isn’t Cyanogen OS.
        It’s like a step back from the One.

    There’s nothing wrong per sè, but considering how the soc will struggle with a fullhd, a simple hd would be a better choise on the overall because on 5″ an hd is still close to 300 ppi, a good amount (similar to iphone’s retina) and, as i recall, 300 ppi is near human perception limit, so… In my opinion they should have put a fullhd only with a soc powerful enough to match, otherwise it’s just pure marketing and will probably damage the overall user experience

I saw this phone in the globalsources show in hk…the FHD felt like a high quality qHD to me.only. the camera sucked real bad….

  Really? Only seen reseller samples, but didn’t look to bad, though Cubot never excell with cameras. Not sure if this an interpolated IMX214 (as on the X11) or the Dongwoon Anatech they’ve dug up again recently.
