Siswoo are a company that like to do things a little differently and will continue to set new trends with the launch of their premium dual screen phone in the Chinese market before the New Year.
Siswoo are looking to launch their first phone in China, but they aren’t interested in competing with Meizu or Xiaomi, instead they want to enter the market further upstream and take on premium end of the market.
The dual screen Siswoo R9 Darkmoon is the phone that they intend to release first in a strategy which will see the phone maker mix with the likes of Yotaphone, Apple, Oppo, Vivo and Huawei. The move is the opposite of what we have seen in the past (with phone makers creating low-end devices for the Chinese consumer), but one that makes perfect sense. The phone also features a Mediatek MT6752 chipset, 5-inch FHD main display, 13 mega-pixel main camera, alloy body and rear 4.7-inch E-ink panel. The news of the Chinese release was announced at a trade show held between Russia and Chinese governments earlier this month.
While Siswoo see China as a market where they can thrive in the premium phone segment they realise the budget and mid-range sector is already over-crowded. Whether this mean that we will see more wallet friendly designed for international customers in the future (from Siswoo and others) remains to be seen.
