Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced it will be boarding the ‘Make in India’ wagon as early as this month’s end.
Vivo has a strong marketing presence (offline) in India. It emerged last evening that Vivo are now the title sponsors of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (cricket league) after Pepsi backed out of its deal.
“At the end of this month our Greater Noida assembling unit will be operational that will bring over 2,000 jobs for the product lines and around 200 managerial positions also. The maximum capacity will be one million units per month,” said Vivo Global CMO and India CEO, Alex Feng.

Vivo have also invested 125 Crore INR in a manufacturing plant in the northern Indian city of Noida, which will have capacity of producing over one million phones per month.
If you’re wondering why so many Chinese OEMs are setting up manufacturing plants in India, it is because of the incentives that the government provides for adherence to the ‘Make in India’ scheme.
