Flyme 5.0 for Meizu MX5 now seeding

Meizu users generally have a love-hate relationship with the OS the phones ship with, i.e., Flyme. The MX5 came with Flyme 4.5, but it looks as though Meizu is now seeding Flyme 5.0 for the phone.

If you haven’t gotten the update yet, you might have to wait a bit. Also, the servers seem a little overloaded for now; it’s been more than a couple of hours since the 936MB update started downloading on my MX5, but it still hasn’t finished.

The exact version (being downloaded on my phone) is Flyme 5.0.0.1A. If you have an MX5, and if you bought if from China, I highly recommend you to shift to the ‘A’ version of the ROM, which cured the MX5 of the problems it had been having earlier.

Meizu did send out an early beta of the Flyme 5.0 ROM for the MX5 last month, but the current version should be a lot stable.

Make sure that you have more then 50-60% battery on your phone before attempting the upgrade. Looking at the download speeds, it might also be a good idea to leave the update to happen overnight… and be greeted by an all new OS next morning.
