As expected, Letv announced a bunch of new stuff at today’s Beijing conference including, of course, the Letv Le 1s smartphone.
Many of you might be aware that the GizChina staff is a fan of the first-generation Letv phones, something you probably would’ve taken away from the Letv reviews. Anyway, let’s get started with the Le 1s that launched today.
As expected, there isn’t much of a difference in specs between the Le 1s and the older-gen Letv Le 1, which only came out six months back. The Letv Le 1s is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) that runs at 2.2GHz (as opposed to 2GHz on the original version), along with 3GB RAM. The base version of the Le 1s will have 32GB storage, which is double that of what came on the base Le 1.
Moving on, there’s the same 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display upfront, with even smaller bezels this time round. On the back, the Le 1s has a fingerprint sensor which the company claims can recognize your fingerprint in just 0.15 seconds. The fingerprint sensor comes with a fingerprint sensor with a mirrored finish, with sits right above the Letv logo on the back.
Other than that, there’s a 13 mega-pixel PDAF supported camera on the rear with a 5 mega-pixel one on the front. Sure, Letv made it a point to compare it with the iPhone 6s, claiming that the Letv Le 1s’ camera can focus in just 0.09 seconds, faster than the iPhone 6s. Lastly, the phone is powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
Gizchina News of the week
REFER: Letv Le 1s full specifications
As you can see from the pictures of the phone, yesterday’s leaked image of the Letv Le 1s turned out to be real after all.
Coming to what matters most: Pricing. The Letv Le 1s is just 1099 Yuan ($172) in China. You can expect your favourite reseller to offer the phone around the $210 mark once it does come in stock. I, for one, am excited to try it out!
Besides the Le 1s, Letv also announced the uMax120, aka a 4K 3D 120-inch television and a smart car, details of which are scarce at the moment. What we do know is that the smart car will feature Letv’s own software (obviously), and is developed in partnership with veteran car manufacturer Aston Martin.
Letv went on to say that the company will be offering its products in the US locally before the end of 2015.
UPDATE: The uMax120 TV is half a million Yuan, or roughly $78,650 if you want to get one.
Also, a comment from Letv on the smart car: “The Letv auto ecosystem strategy is comprehensive and our R&D is fully independent, enabling us to uniquely redefine industry boundaries with significant partnerships—at every level of the automotive industry. Within two years, our plans for a closed-loop ecosystem with open features is being realized and recognized by the industry.” (comment via Android Headlines)
I’m ordering mine asap
+1. hope this is launched in India… there is an event coming up right?
https://www.facebook.com/LetvIndia/ … is this coming tomorrow…. i read “coming very soon” however, the image on top seems to be that of an older phone. 😮
Cant see anything on the lemall website about speaker specs, I hope they have kept a good audio setup for headphones and loudspeaker
Hi Lars! this is Lars 😉 band 20 is not there in L1 (have mine since 1 day) but i have 4G in several areas here around Deventer, Twello etc
In my eyes this is the most beautifully looking phone I have ever seen!!!!
I will order mine from gizchinashop as soon as it’s up for pre-order. I just received the original Le1 that I ordered three weeks ago from gizchinashop.
Bility, i don’t know if you noticed, but i hate to be the one letting you know that up there in the ADS GizChina.shop has is at USD$ 319.99…. now is not to appealing to me. as it was when reading $172 .
Ah I see what u mean I just saw it now it wasn’t there this morning. But I think it’s the same price as the 32gb Le1 which I bought from them three weeks ago. If u are interested giztop(gizmochina) are taking pre-order for $279 I think.
that’s common with all resellers.
they list the phone with a “reasonable” price way before the launch to reserve the spot.
that’s not the final price, they will update it once it’s on stock.
keep in mind that Gizchina shop has been the first among other famous resellers to list the MI4C for $249 and the LETV Le1 for $189 and the pro for $289.
be patient until this phone is in stock.
i would have prefered not knowing about it then. there are Hi impor duties in my country if somthing goes over $200 USD. 🙁
i do not like the fingerprint reader not in line with the camera (personal taste) but would have loved it if it came to ALIEXPRESS around US%199.99 😀 😀
there you have it, those are my true color… i’m cheap hahaha
but what is your problem then? no one would expect it to be so low in price!
resellers usually ship the item declaring a lower value.
just ask them to put $120 in the custom declaration sheet.
You can also ask the seller to mark it as “Factory Reconditioned” with a lower price. Most Customs officials know prices (or can Google them) but can’t confirm if something is “used”.
agree:
you can say it’s refurbished, a sample unit…
there’s no science about it though, you can still risk to get charged.
but hey… what else can you get at that price in your country?
