You can import the OnePlus X ahead of local sale (plus discount code)

If you’ve been eyeing the new OnePlus X (full specifications here) but dread the wait that’s associated with almost every OnePlus phone, there might be some good news for you.

Reseller Geekbuying claim to have received a bunch of OnePlus X units, ready to ship. What’s more, GizChina readers can avail a discount by applying a coupon code (find it at the end of the post).

In stock is the OnePlus X 3+16GB version, i.e., with 3GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage. Also, you can use the coupon below only with the white version of the phone, which if I’m not wrong is a China exclusive.

The OnePlus X has a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2GB/3GB of RAM (2GB RAM variant again a China exclusive), a 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 8 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 2525mAh battery.

The OnePlus X comes with the notification switch that we first saw on the OnePlus 2.

The phone is listed for $288.99, but using coupon code OPXOFFER you can get $9 off of the listed price.

I can but why would I ? 😀 I just got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 for less and I’m very happy with it.
Also for a firend a got an Infocus M810 for $150 when it was on sale and it’s a very good phone with the same hardware and I’d say with the same build quality as this one.

      they’re both bigger though.

True, not by much though. And while I was initially skeptic about 5.5 inch phones I find them quite OK now… sure a bit on the big size but it’s also nice having all that screen size. If you can also get them at a decent price why not ?
OnePlus used to be about value but these days they seem to be all about marketing and their prices are so and so …

If you want a 5 incher the Mi4c is at the same price and with much better hardware, though that one too seems a bit overpriced to me.

I’ve got to disagree on mi4c being overpriced, do you really think a sd808 at $250 isn’t a deal? Xiaomi is a company not a charity.

I just think the SD808 is a bit overpriced. Granted it’s got a good GPU and CPU but still …. I guess for me the Helio X10 ( in the Redmi Note 2 ) is quite enough and I’m not willing to spend at least $50 more for the SD808 in the Mi4C…. but that’s just me. And I did say a bit … shave $20-30 and it’s looking a lot better.
The SD808 will meet its match with X20 though and then the Mi4c will clearly be overpriced if it maintains the current price.
Anyway if we call the Mi4C a well priced device this is a bit expensive.

Phone prices are determined by more than just the choice of SoC, that is a significant factor but it’s not the only one

              November 3, 2015

My thoughts exactly. Of course there’s more to it than the SOC but I was comparint Mi4c to Redmi Note 2 here and besides SOC and screen there’s not much difference.

SoC, camera (mi4c has better optics), RAM, USB (Mi4c has type C). All these contribute to a higher price.

See my post above. Limited storage and design preferences may be a deal beaker for some.
If that is not critical, than mi4c is a better option.

In the 5 inch range the OPX its a dumb choice when we have MI4 at $200 and the MI4C at a bit more. Mi4C its better in every aspect, also in the battery…

    • yalok
      November 3, 2015

      MI4 is not dualsim.
Mi4C is dual sim but doesn’t have metal frame and glass.
And if you need more than 32GB storage?

The battery aspect is not yet clear too.

      • balcobomber25
        November 3, 2015

I never noticed any added protection with metal frame phones vs polycarb. If anything they look nice and are heavier. If you need more than 32gb there’s OTG or Mi Cloud.

Will you check out the Pro 5 anytime soon? Saw some Italian reviews and even without Flyme 5.0 it’s looking great, the only phone this year that’s tempting me to throw $$$ at. Thanks

OTG is a very easy option for anyone, they even have new OTG drives that plug directly into the USB slot, they cost the same as comparable SD cards. They are also a much better option than SD cards.

A requeriment for all of us is updated hardware, 64bit SoC, a good battery, Robust construction, and for me 32 gb are more than enought. That point directly to MI4c. The OPX give us obsolete Hardware, small battery, high price for the specs, and that hated invite system…

            • yalok
              November 4, 2015

I don’t care if it’s 32 or 64 bit, as long as everything is fluid. OPX battery could prove to be better since they use AMOLED. The build materials also count, poycarbonate is much cheaper than metal. I would choose Mi4c over OPX too, but if one needs more storage (and doesn’t want to fuss with OTG or pay for cloud) and more stylish looks, Mi4c is not an option.

    • Sere83
      November 4, 2015

Not Really. MIUI is very bloated, massive ram hog, poor multi touch implementation especially in stock apps like gallery, slight input lag too especially compared to close to stock android builds. Also unlike the OPX The Mi4c is unlikely to get updated to mashmallow any time soon if it does at all. Plus OPX has Micro SD and proper European LTE band support, warranties etc unlike the mi4c. Also the SD808 benchmarks about the same or only a tiny bit higher than the SD801, no noticeable difference in day to day use. Also the build quality looks better on the OPX. The only real advantage the Mi4C has is larger battery.

      • Maximiliano On Line

Im not in europe, so warranty its the same for me. MiUI 7 its a lot faster than the others, at least that says the reviews. I never experienced the multi touch problem that you describe. Its for sure that Android 6 its going to MI4c but i dont buy the phone assuming it will or will not get the next android release, and OPX still dont have 6.0 too. Allmare real advantages, also the xiaomi has a smaller bezel. The fact is that mi4c its the best choice right now…

The X20 will be better than 808 and the 820 will be better than X20. There will always be a better chip available. Even with X20 coming out, $250 for a near flagship phone is an incredible price. Even most X10 phones cost more than that.
