Exclusive: Elephone 4K action camera specifications leaked

ELE 4K CAM

Elephone have confirmed that they will be entering the action camera market with a sports camera with up to 4K video capture.

Following up from Elephone’s 4K teaser yesterday we have the first images and specification details for the phone makers first action camera. Images come courtesy of 9to5actioncamera’s Facebook page and show a bright yellow camera with ELE logo that appears similar in design SJCAM models.

We managed to get our hands on the official specifications for the ELE CAM 4K Action camera (official name) from our sources at Elephone. The pecs confirm that the sports camera will come with 16 mega-pixel OV4689 sensor and Allwinner V3 chipset, meaning that 4K video recording is supported but only at 15fps.

The camera will also record 2.7K at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720 HD video at 120FPS. Built in WIFI means you can operate the ELE CAM via Android or IOS devices, and a 170 degree wide angle lens is on par with what other action camera’s are packing these days.

Elephone hope the action camera will be adopted by extreme sports enthusiasts and will be providing the camera with a waterproof case for easy helmet attachment. Elephone haven’t commented on pricing but our source says it will be below SJCAM.

They should work on making a good phone before venturing out. They are not Xiaomi or One Plus who have the phone part figured out and can focus on secondary products.

If they could make a good phone, it would already be made.

Either they choose to continue mediocre phone spamming for doubtful share increase, or they try a new niche.

I would say this camera is a logical move.

If they focused on just making one good phone and not releasing a new flagship every month they could. The problem is they are trying to do many things and not putting the time or resources required to make any of them good. This will be the same, it will either be a bad product or one that is close but not there. This just spreads their time and resources even further.

the M2 is a pretty good phone and the trunk is a great budget phone , elephone were a spamming company which is now taking a new direction , their main focus will become the 3 versions of the p9000 (lite,c) some budget phones…
ive talked to employees and these are rral good news , bad news are that they will most likely drop support to the older models , but you know they already did this so k , i also saw their development team which is pretty small but now got a raise and will make source code for android 6.0 for mtk6753/35 and they were really excited about it , and apparently all “leaks” that gizchina provides is just a girl from- the english speaking dept. which sends them info regularly and this is just a plain view company approved insider , but still i agree its exclusive to gizchina cuz this is the first site that gets contacted by elephone every time…

15 fps? Might as well not support it at all

16fps used to be the old film standard, before it got 24fps. You can get ok quality but at time you may get a dashing effect when scenes change in movement.
