Bluboo now have 2 wearables promised for launch later this year, the newest being the Bluboo Uwatch.
Not to be confused with the Ulefone Uwear, the Uwatch is a $49.99 wearable that will go on sale for $49.99 later this month. Bluboo say that the aim of the Uwatch is to launch a more fashionable device with thinner body than the previously announced Xwatch. With this in mind I have to admit that Bluboo’s idea of fashion is a little different from my own.
Gizchina News of the week
So far Bluboo have only confirmed the price, the fact that it might have Android Wear running on it (but we doubt it) and that it will be available to buy sometime later this month.
Judging by how it looks and the price I’d say it’s just a regular MT2502 powered watch with no GPS, no nothing.
The only watches that I know of to have GPS are the Android powered ones and the GT68 by Kingwear.
It looks like the os by the creator of alibaba
where is the source for the claim “the fact that it might have Android Wear running on it (but we doubt it)”?
I’d bet it’s running Nucleus OS, just like the rest of the MT2502 powered watches.
did they say it was MT2502 somewhere? that has rom and ram on the chip, and it’s not 512MB of RAM (pretty sure it is 64 or 128MB) so they literally could not run android wear.
They did not but at this price it can’t be anything else. All Android capable chipsets from Mediatek would make thing cost at least $80 if not more.
$50 is the price range for MT2502 watches and yes, those can’t run Android. I’m also looking at the shape, Android capable watches tend to be more chubby 🙂
“They did not but at this price it can’t be anything else. All Android capable chipsets from Mediatek would make thing cost at least $80 if not more.”
why do you say that? ( thanks for your reply btw .. I did find that the X watch and E watch are both supposed to be android wear. this one may not be.. we agree on that, I’m just asking for more details if you have any) cpus are ridiculously cheap right now. you can get an 8 core a53 mediatek .. I forget which I saw but something like the MT8753, for $5 ea. in packs of 2.
Well the chipset itself is just part of it. With MT6261DA for instance you get a SOC with RAM and Flash included.
With an Android capable chipset you also have to add a RAM chip, a flash one , more complicated PCB and so on … that increases the cost.
That being said this one looks like it might run Android wear after all, it’s on presale on Gearbest and they say Android Wear … I’m still waiting to find out more, I want to find out more about it though, what chipset, how much RAM , flash , does it have GPS …
If this one has both Android Wear and GPS then I’ll certainly consider it.
no, it’s different in smartwatches.. there is no chipset, just an SoC. they use 2 standards: ePOP and eNVM. ePOP puts ram on the same die as the cpu, and eNVM puts rom on the same die as the cpu.
