With the Snapdragon 820 finally official, all eye are on China for the first SD820 powered phones. We all have our favourites at who could be first, but have Xiaomi beat everyone to the finish?
Earlier today a device named the Xiaomi Gemini was spotted on Geekbench. As we all know, Xiaomi uses codenames for its upcoming phones so a little further investigation was needed to determine what it might be.
According to the benchmark this mystery devices is running Android 6.0 on a Qualcomm MSM8996 chipset, if you aren’t well versed in your chip codes then let us just tell you that this is the name of the recently released Snapdragon 820 chipset.
There isn’t much else information here other than the fact the device is running 3GB RAM and scored 2140 in single-core test and 47632 in the multi-core section of the benchmark.
With only a few months until the end of the year, and only slightly more time until the Chinese New Year, we should see the big brands releasing their next generation flagships in the coming months.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to ship with a Snapdragon 820, but eyes are also on LeTV, Vivo, and Oppo too. Who will be first?
The MI3/MI4 were Cancro
so there’s no doubt that Gemini will be the MI5.
IMHO The MI5 will be the one to be launched first due to the partnership between Xiaomi and Qualcomm and also because if I’m not wrong last year the SD810 launch coincided with the Note Pro launch too.
I totally agree, i have no doubt that xiaomi will be the first to have sd820… As long as it’s good!
In fact last year the rumors about mi note pro said that it would be launched days after the sd810, but in fact they weren’t true, and it was lg g flex 2 to be the first to spot sd810… And is higher temperatures!
Probably it means that xiaomi was the first to work on the chip, due to his partnership with qualcom, but they knew the 810 v1 was crap, so they took their time to work on it.
So it goes: if 820 has no problem at all, mi5 will be the first to be launched… Otherwise, i see another hard year for qualcom…
Sorry to disappoint you but the goophone s7 will be the first to launch with sd820!!
I think they were talking about the first “quality” phone to launch with SD820… because when you decide to buy a phone with A+ SOC, you want it to be well built, with A+ camera integration and various percs goophone cannot deliver.
According to this interpretation, you don’t really disappoint anyone stating goophone will launch the first SD820 crap-phone. But i may be mistaking ^^
i can’t wait for the review,
especially camera and audio wise.
Maybe Andi should do some kind of magic, put the review out first and the phone can come later on. Utopian thoughts i know, but this will keep my patience from getting thin. 😀
3gb ram is a disapointment. Its way to long in the x64 lifecycle for OEM’s to start providing proper 4gb+ ram for x64 devices. 3gb ram on x64 devices were fine till last gen but this gen its atrocious.
