It’s official: Intel is the favourite chipset maker among Chinese tablet manufacturers. Or so we’re led to believe…
If you’ve been reading the latest tablet news on GizChina, I’m sure you’ll concur with what I had to say there. There have been tonnes of Intel-powered tablet launches in the past few weeks, and by the looks of it, many more are yet to come.
Today’s tablet is the new Chuwi eBook, which costs $170 and features something that not a lot of other tablets do: a pressure-sensitive input mechanism thanks to the stylus that ships with it.
According to Chuwi, the stylus measures just 2.9 grammes and does not require a battery to work. It also supports 1024 levels of pressure.
Gizchina News of the week
As for the main specs of the Chuwi eBook, there’s a 10.1-inch display upfront with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, an Intel Atom Z3736F processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB on-board ROM and a sufficient-sounding 8000mAh battery.
The Chuwi eBook also has a 2 mega-pixel front facing camera with a 5 mega-pixel (OmniVision) rear. On the software side of things, the eBook offers an option of booting into either Android 4.4 KitKat or Windows 8… which is a little odd considering most other tablets are already coming out with Windows 10.
Nonetheless, should you be interested in getting one, it is $170 on Geekbuying for now.
