overall it is faster .. on antutu the results are ~45-48k for an 808 usually, and about 52k for a comparable helio x10

strictly for gaming is snapdragon 808 showing well, in anything else it is slower.

Antutu score is a global value that takes consideration of several variables including display size (just to name one).

using that score to determine which SoC is faster has nothing of scientific.

To do that you need two phones with the same hardware, kernel and UI and profile to see which one is faster.

if you want to know which CPU is faster then i’d suggest Geekbench which gives you un idea , but definetely more accurate that the Antutu score.

nice comment, but yet, you haven’t proven the connection “more Antutu points = faster SoC”

you took two phones as example and what you have been proven so far is that one gets more Antutu points than the other one, nothing more.

look, I’m not trying to saying that one is better or faster than the other, to me their performance is comparable.

what I’m trying to explain you is that Antutu points don’t tell you which SoC is faster and if this isn’t clear yet then I’m going to show you 2 different phones, with exactly the same SoC: Exynos 7420.

I’m taking about the Meizu Pro 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.

so, if someone asks me:

which SoC is faster (look, i said SoC and not phone)

the answer is, they both have the same SoC, so that question doesn’t make any sense.

but if we use your logic to answer that question then the answer would be:

“According to Antutu The Exynos 7420 of the Meizu Pro 5 is a faster SoC than the Exynos 7420 of the Galaxy S6 because the S6 scores about 68K, while the Pro5 scores 76K”

i hope you got my point about Antutu.

I’m aware about the coverage of Antutu which i consider masters in marketing.

in tech sites (androidauthority, xda) they have to bring Antutu because people ask about it but they’ve never praised it.

btw, i wasnt asking for agreement, i was only trying to explain you that Antutu score is a mix of several variables that for the nature of the benchmark can’t tell you much about a specific department like cpu or gpu.

benchmarks (all of them) can tell you which league the phone belongs,but rarely more than that.

to conclude, both soc (helio x10 and sd 808) are a nice piece of hardware, especially if we consider that , with the X20 and sd820 coming out soon, they are considered mid-range SoC.

I’m only trying to point you that all the benchmarks should be taken with a pinch of salt.

They give you a rough idea, but there are factors that don’t show up.

one of them is the throttling (like you correctly pointed above)

other could be software tricks by the company to pump that score (widely proven in the past).

For sure you can’t tell which one is faster between a phone that score 48.000 on Antutu and another one that scores 52.000.

actually there are chances that two exact phones can give you two different values far over than 10%.

The GPU in the SD is better but not by a wide margin as you think. There’s very little in the play store the X10 can’t handle.

On paper the Adreno 418 is about 20% faster than the 330. On paper the 418 is slightly faster than the Power VR 6200 in the X10. But in real world execution most people will never notice the difference between the two. Neither of them will handle the most demanding games on Android on high settings. If there was a ladder it would look like this:

Adreno 330

Power VR 6200

While it would be up the ladder it wouldn’t be as much higher as you seem to think. The 420 and 430 would be, but the 418 is a slight improvement on the 330. In real world scenarios the 3 of them (418,330 and 6200) offer about equal performance.

6430 is better than 330. 6430 scores higher in just about every graphics benchmark. You can see them all here (Iphone 5 has 6430, Note 3 has 330, N1 has 320)

I loked up results before posting that in the first place, I know I am right. The 808’s gpu is faster (but it will throttle after a few minutes of use and fall to just a minor advantage). The x10’s cpu is significantly faster.

overall, in antutu the 808 scores ~45-48k in a system comparable to one where the helio x10 would score in the ~52k range.

I already posted my reply to that perspective. you can take it or leave it. (I feel like your response was so limp on top of just-plain incorrect that it isnt even worth addressing the specific points)

Im not going to go back and say the same things again.. that’s becoming a difference between us 🙂
