It’s official: India is the second home for all Chinese phone makers.
After hordes of companies including OPPO, Vivo, Gionee, Xiaomi, Zopo and whatnot launched themselves in India in the past year-year and a half, it’s the turn of fast rising phone maker Letv to start their India campaign.
Letv do so with the launch of their India online store – in.LeMall.com. There isn’t much on the store right now besides some promo material and yet another take on the iconic 1984 ad by Apple for the Macintosh.
Gizchina News of the week
Letv is using the hashtag #DisruptiveFuture for their posts on social media. While their first generation phones were nothing short of disruptive, the second-gen Letv Le 1s hasn’t impressed at least with its camera so far.
Coming back to LeMall India, it looks like Letv will be starting operations with a smartphone; the homepage of the store asks you to guess the phone’s launch date too.
It’s believed that the Le 1s will be making its way into the country in the first round of phone launches from Letv. Stay tuned for more!
Hi Yash, if Letv were to selling phones in India will it come with google services fully installed do you know? And without all the Chinese elements on the Chinese version? I mean will the bloatwares on the Chinese version of their phones be removed from the phones that will be sold India?
Google service are banned in China (I think) so China versions do not have Google play services installed. In the international market, LeTV should be releasing phones with Google services on them. If not, it is not very difficult to install the google service apk available on XDA and a number of other websites.
Thanks King, I am aware of the ban. I have the Letv Le1 and I did install google services easily but it still has a lot Chinese in it even though everything is working perfectly. However if they release their phones in India, then I will have to order another one from India through third party sellers simple because I expect all the Chinese in China version of the phone will have to be gone from the India version (if I can call it that).
I get your point mate. My wife’s Mi3 that was release in India, has no Chinese bloatware on it. Hope you get a good deal when you import it from over here in India.
besides the disappointment of camera performance in the x500 i say kudos to LeTV.
It hasn’t been a year since they showed up in the phone industry and they already opened a store in the US (not phones yet but their gorgeous X3-55 Pro 4K TV is coming soon) and now they already set everything to do business in India.
Good stuff for customers
