Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro leaks yet again, still looks like a Meizu

Xiaomi’s been trying to keep their Redmi Note 2 Pro under wraps for a long time, but clearly without much avail.

The Redmi Note 2 Pro has been the subject of many a leak already, and there’s another one that popped up earlier today. This time round, it’s the rear cover of the phone that managed to get spied upon.

The rear of the phone still reminds us of the Meizu (MX5, to be precise). But there’s a difference, and a major one at that — the Redmi Note 2 Pro packs a fingerprint sensor on the rear.

If that does happen to be the case, the Redmi Note 2 Pro will become Xiaomi’s first ever phone to have a fingerprint sensor. That is, if the Mi 5 doesn’t come out before that; it’d be a gruesome mistake to not have a fingerprint sensor on the Mi 5, so you can take that for granted.

As for the specifications, the Pro version of the Redmi Note 2 seems to be sharing most of its components with the ‘regular’ version. This includes a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, a Helio X10 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13 mega-pixel rear camera, and a 5 mega-pixel front facing camera.

The Redmi Note 2 Pro is believed to cost 1,099 Yuan or $170 in China. Xiaomi have a major event coming up (December 11th), which is probably when the Redmi Note 2 Pro will go live also.

  Hopefully there will be a variant with 3GB RAM. It would be a bad idea not to have one.

      The problem is NFC isn’t widely used in many countries that Xiaomi officially sells in. It ends up being an added cost for something that hardly anyone uses.

        In Thailand when i was there you could use NFC for the metro but only works on Samsung phones. Other than that it was virtually non existent.

why not release a mi4c version with a 5.5″ instead of a new revision of a note 2 prime?

  A Mi4c with a 5.5 would be directly competing with the Redmi Note 2, and Mi Note. It wouldnt make sense from a business perspective. There’s really not that much now that separates the Mi4c from the Note 2.

    And will not note 2 pro competing with the prime and the note 2? It has the same specs but metal body.
    There are not so many models with 3gb ram and a soc that is not a mediatek… and mi note is 5.7″ , so it’s a kind of separate market( not to mention the lack of wcdma 900 that is useful in EU ).

      I think Note Pro 2 and Prime are both mistakes, neither one of them really make sense.
      As far as SoC goes though there is very little difference between the MT6795 in the Note 2 and the SD808 in the Mi4c. They offer almost equal performance in actual usage.

Yeah I still comment on this website and more often recently, because I search my new smartphone.
After seeing the bad camera of the LeTV Le 1S X500 I am basically thrown back to alternatives without fingerprint sensor. ( I want 5,5″ display, so Mi4C is out sadly)
That is the LeTV Le 1 X600 and this Redmi Note 2 (Prime).
I may have asked this already but I’m still undecided.

    One of my colleagues got an MX5. Although I find the design too roundish for my liking, I really enjoyed the smaller dimensions (in comparison to my OPO), quick fingerprint scanner, faster and better reception GPS(It was working much better before on OPO), solid metal build and quite fast and optimized ROM (a bit faster than latest CyanogenOS on OPO, but that could be hardware related too).

      Meizo Metal hasn’t got root.
      I will check the MX4 Pro.
      And the MX5 is more expensive, but it could be ideal for me. Thx.

    Hey balco, I’m thinking in give a try on Meizu phones with the Meizu Metal, but not sure about Flyme and Meizu “lockness” policy. My experience with Flyme OS is limited to random ports in other devices, What you say about it? It loses something related to stock Android, or it’s heavy as Miui?

      It’s a lot closer to MiUI than stock but in my experience on the MX5 it is not as performance heavy as MiUI. What do you mean by “lockness” exactly?

        Just saw some videos of Flyme 5 running in the Metal and it looks very nice. I mean, no kind of custom development or third party roms coming to Meizu device, due to their locked bootloader. So if I don’t like of flyme, there is no escape of it. But i not dislike, otherwise there will be no reason to consider a Meizu, But if you say that is smooth and not heavy as Miui is on newest releases, I guess there will be no problem for me, I’ll wait for some reviews by the way.

I dont see *any* difference in the specs.. except that fingerprint sensor. Hope it is at least fully clocked at 2.2Ghz … otherwise it is $15 more for a fingerprint sensor, and nothing more (which I dunno, might be worth it to someone but not so much to me).
