It looks like our gut was right and we will at least be seeing the upcoming all metal Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro along with an all new, all metal Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.
Just a day after posting the first official image of a gold Xiaomi phone with rear fingerprint scanner, Xiaomi has posted another teaser image this time showing an all metal tablet that is most likely the 2nd generation Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.
Gizchina News of the week
Earlier Mi Pad 2 rumours hinted that the tablet would feature an Intel chipset and that it might even boast a dual boot operating system that would allow the tablet to run either Android or Windows 10.
A benchmark on Geekbench had the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 running an Intel Atom x5-Z8500 quad-core processor, clocked at 2.24GHz, with 2GB of RAM and Android 5.1. Pricing is sure to be similar to the original plastic model at around 1499 Yuan, while a more upmarket version (hopefully with LTE) is rumoured to cost 1799 Yuan.
Hope it’s a powerful SoC I ìntel or not
How does one compare it then? Not like I’m only looking at antutu. The intel is better at some benchmarks, the K1 at others so my conclusion is that neither are better than the other in terms of performance.
Reading reviews of both chips suggest the Intel has a stronger CPU and the K1 has better graphics performance so in my case I would rather choose the K1.
Of course I’m not too bothered as I have a Mi Pad already and I’m generally happy with it. None of the Nexus, Samsung tablets or iPads have tempted me away from the Mi Pad.
The only thing I don’t fully like about it is that it looks like a cheap plastic copy of the iPad Mini.
everything about this tablet is awesome .. except the ram. Even 4GB would be enough for me to not want it for windows 10. 2GB makes that operating system just ridiculous.
If they put 8GB in it they could literally double the price and it would still sell like hot cakes.
