Coolpad’s Ivvi brand has released trio of new phones today all with a slim 7.9mm body and uber compact 4.7-inch display.
The Coolpad ‘Bone’ range of phones is made up of a base model for 999 Yuan, a China Mobile ‘Pro’ for 1399 Yuan and a China Unicom ‘Pro’ for 1499 Yuan. Those are prices which hit quite close to home for Xiaomi, but in terms of specification the Redmi range of phones needed worry. In terms of design though they might.
The Ivvi range is designed primarily for female users who want a phone with super slim profile, compact screen to fit in to a small purse and those all important beautification features in the camera app. This phone has it all plus a little more.
Why a 2.5D glass screen over the 4.7-inch panel and a smooth unibody round design, the latest Ivvi looks like a large flat pebble found at the side of a pool or lake (and I believe with a slim design like this it could probably skip along the water pretty well too).
Gizchina News of the week
The photos what we have of the phone show a near bezel-less design. We’re not sure if this is accurate or if there is a black border around, but if true this 4.7-inch phone will be quite narrow in comparison to other phones.
On the rear there is a fingerprint scanner, dual LED flash and 8 mega-pixel camera. The top of the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and IR blaster, and selfies are handled with a 5 mega-pixel front camera.
Coolpad says the fingerprint scanner on the rear of the Ivvi can unlock in only 0.24 seconds and can also be used as a shutter control for taking photos.
Between the versions on sale they all come with a Snapdragon 410 processor, 16GB internal memory and 1800mAh battery. The only differences are the Pro versions have 2GB RAM instead of 1GB and the China Unicom model supports FDD-LTE.
Overall the IVVI is a cute looking phone, but for international markets the pricing might be a problem.
