Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 launched with 4000mAh battery

Today Xiaomi launched 3 new products, on the phone side the announcement was all about the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Learn all the specs of the Redmi Note 3 and what it has to offer here.

There was quite a large gap between the launch of the original Xiaomi Redmi note, and the Redmi Note 2. In fact the Redmi Note 2 only launched a few months ago and it was today that the Beijing tech giant pulled the wraps of the Redmi Note 3.

If you have been following the Chinese tech world this year you will know why Xiaomi have had to speed things up. Meizu, Huawei, ZTE, and all manner of other smartphone rivals have been releasing phone after phone, and all with features the Redmi Note 2 lacked, so the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was born.

Xiaomi had even shown off a render of the Xiaomi Redmi note 3 so we already knew the phone would feature an alloy body and rear fingerprint scanner. With the launched we have also learned that the fingerprint scanner has an unlock speed of only 0.3 seconds and that the metal body measures just 8.65mm thick.

What we didn’t know about the all metal Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the fact it would have a large battery. Xiaomi usually are quite generous with battery sizes, but they have gone above and beyond this time and the Redmi Note 3 sports a 4000mAh battery pack.

If you are familiar with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 then the rest of the hardware isn’t going to much of a surprise. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a similar 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, Mediatek Helio X10 chipset, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera with PDAF fast auto focus, Dual SIM LTE and 802.11ac WIFI. There will also be a 3GB RAM 32GB version too.

Xiaomi are shipping the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with MIUI 7 out of the box, and in China the price is an astonishing 899 Yuan, with the 3GB model costing 1099 Yuan.

Damn. This phone is great in specs and in price. Will have to wait for 3rd party resellers here in Philippines as Xiaomi Ph here sucks in taking the products to our country.

Wait let me see if I got this right; Xiaomi just gave a metal build and finger print scanner to a Redmi? They’re going to pull a Meizu (and by that I mean cannibalize their own sales).
All this and *still* no Mi5. I guess the race to the bottom is still on.

  They are not cannibalizing anything since the previous version will be discontinued.
  A late MI5 is due to SD820.
  I don’t think there are other SD820 phones out there.

    This is going to cost them some plastic finger-print-less Mi4c sales.
    Meizu had better execution in not letting the build quality of their budget phones exceeding their higher end phones.

      so, MI4C 5″ phone with SD808 and Note 3 5,5″ phone with Helio X10:
      totally different phones, but you think that someone would pick one or the other just because of the metal body…alright, your opinion.

      5’5″ vs 5,5″, Heliox10 vs HelioX10…
      and the similarities continue.
      I respect your opinion but i really don’t get what you’re trying to do here rather than shit-talking about Xiaomi everytime you have the opportunity and praise Meizu at the same time.

        i wouldn’t even answer until i read about Meizu.
        He might think that MI4C and Note3 could somehow fall into the same category, and even if i disagree i wouldn’t have said anything, but then you read about Meizu doing a better job i couldn’t kept my mouth shut.
        When you put the Metal and the MX5 side by side there’s really near to none difference, and for sure the two phones look like each other more than the MI4C and Note3 do.

        Actually there was very little shit talking in my original post just more an actual opinion. If you actually read my original post I was basically saying I’m actually a little too impressed with this Redmi Note 3 because I can’t see Xiaomi’s strategy to use a nice metal build and finger print scanner on a budget phone while their more expensive phones (Mi4i/Mi4c) are still rocking plastic and sans finger print scanners.
        There is a chance (there always is) at cannibalization when your product tiers and pricing are not well defined that’s where Meizu royally f’ed up last round with the M1 Note, MX4 and MX4 Pro — the MX4 was too good it ate up all the Pro sales, then they released the M1 Note and that ate up ALL the sales which is why they discontinued the MX4, launched the M2 Note with lower specs, and to this date are STILL trying to sell leftover MX4 Pro stock. I see this new Redmi Note 3 and think it’s deja vu all over again.

        sorry i didn’t get it at the first time.
        the fact that this Note3 has a metal build while the MI4 i/c have still plastic is chronologically correct.
        The MI4i, C and the Note 2 pro were all plastic until something happened in the market (look at Letv le1 > Le1s and Meizu Metal)
        so it was an adjustment to the market requests.
        I would have been surprised if they first released the metal Note3 and then later a plastic MI4C, and at that point i would have been in agreement with you.

        I would say this year Meizu’s execution of the MX5, M2 Note and Pro 5 have been much better than the mess that was the MX4, MX4 Pro and M1 Note. This is what happens when you make your budget phone too good and Xiaomi just might duplicate Meizu’s mess with the Redmi Note 3.
        Again it’s tough competition these days and it seems like when it comes to Android more and more manufacturers are racing to the bottom than racing to the top which explains why the industry’s profits are in turmoils.

        oh yes, i agree with you.
        And while i think that the Metal might steal sales from the MX5, i still believe that the fight is over that segment (Metal, Note3,Le 1s).
        but that happened because of a weird year of SoC manufacturers.
        last year the fight was on the flagship field with the MT6595 and SD 801, and the next one will be fought again on that territory with the new SD820, HelioX20 and i add Kirin950.

And,
When buying from a reseller, to international markets they say they will use their own ROM because this and that bla bla bla … Will that change in ROM affect the camera performance? (As that’s the most obvious thing to get visibly hurt IMHO)

  Resellers may install “fake” roms (modified stock roms) with some additional features, in example more languages. Never ever run a rom modified by a reseller. It can contain anything. Most of the time it contains crapware and spyware. Always flash the original rom from the manufacturer, not some unknown reseller.

    Then they tell you not to use the OTA update feature for who knows what reason.
    I have would like to do such a thing as flashing my phones but I I’m not that aware of the whole process so I worry to brick the phone as I don’t have many and might lose important information that will give lots of hurdle to regain otherwise …. ((I haven’t looked over YouTube for videos regarding that, but maybe I should?

      obviously you flash the new ROM as soon as you get the new phone when there’s no personal data.
      Flashing is getting very easy lately.
      most of the times you don’t need to use a pc and ADB shell.
      you can just download the rom to your phone, reboot it to recovery
      (holdind power and volume up buttons simultaneously)
      and install the rom through the recovery software.
      i would keep an eye on the forum or youtube to check if there’s something special to do, otherwise it’s pretty much it.

        I always though that would be possible as to once I ran into that boot thing by mistake some long time ago. But this one I have right now (Ecoo E04 3gb) makes me suspicious that something us going on.
        So when I get to boot, after pressing the said buttons, is there something that should read “recovery” ? Can pick it up from there if there is access to where I stored the downloaded ROM so I will see.

It looks nice but not better than meizu metal which has same spec + microsd slot. Considering only 16 or 32GB storage, it’s a problem. I don’t mind no microsd as long as there’s 64Gb embedded…

    NFC is quite a standard even in 3rd countries, like Brazil. Every terminal is ready to NFC payments.

    Hm, I’m from Germany.
    EORI has to do with customs according to wiki. You have to get a number form customs personnel.
    I never had to provide that number either, only on geekbuying.

how much will it cost in PAkistan … thats the BIG question for me…
this is an almost perfect phone … 64 bit , dual tone flash (yes im a BIG sucker for dual tone flashes!) , pdaf camera , FINGERprint scanner(yes , im becoming a sucker for that too) , FHD display , metal body (this protect the device IF it falls out of my hand) and even a killa 4000 battery !
the lack of a micro sd slot kinda sucks (yeah , the ‘almost’ at the beginning) , but i’ll just delete games and apps i don’t use and replace them with the ones i do…
