China’s first dual screen Android smartphone has just officially gone on sale at a Chinese retail price of 2799 Yuan or $437.
Siswoo have become the first Chinese phone maker to release a dual screen phone on the market in China. The Chinese phone maker are also just the second company to release a dual-screen phone, the first being Russian company Yotaphone.
The R9 Darkmoon, is sold as the DZS2 in China and will cost 2799 Yuan for the standard black model or 2999 Yuan for a limited edition gold version of the phone. The main features of the Siswoo R9 Darkmoon, is the 5.2-inch FHD front panel and rear 4.5-inch E-ink panel on the rear.
Gizchina News of the week
A rear E-ink display is designed to prolong battery life when reading on the R9, and can also be used as a backup display should the phone run low on battery power.
Other specifications for the device include 3GB RAM, a Mediatek MT6752 chipset, 32GB internal memory, 8 mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear and 2500mAh battery. We have tried the R9 a few times this past year and are always impressed by the high quality alloy and glass construction of the phone.
With the phone now on sale in China, it won’t be long before international resellers will begin offering the phone on sale too, we just wonder if Siswoo will keep to their high pricing or have a special international price point?
the second screen is pure gimmick, while the price is simply stupid.
they better bring a gun with them while trying to sell it at that price.
I wish the Chinese will take the cue from LG V10, Just a small panel will do the trick. As for ‘second screen’ maybe keep that for a tablet (7-8″) which will be more useful for reading.
It’s an awesome idea in theory but having used one I am not as much as a fan of it. It feels awkward to hold and I can’t see paying anything over $200 for a Siswoo phone. I have been very impressed with this brand so far but not enough to invest that kind of money.
