The invite system is what caused OnePlus a lot of trouble, but at the same time gave the brand the viral popularity it needed. News is that the brand has decided to do away with the system for their current flagship phone.
Starting midnight on 5th December, you will no longer be needing any invites to be able to purchase the OnePlus 2.
Back when the system was first introduced (and criticised), OnePlus maintained that it was the invite system that allowed the company to manage inventory and get an idea of how much demand there was for their phone (the OnePlus One, in 2014). With more options being available, and with OnePlus (presumably) turning into a company that now has a better ability to hold stock, the invite system is going for good… but only for the OnePlus 2.

Yeah nice but neah … I’m a bit of a Xiaomi fan now, I like their prices and the fact that I can actually just easily buy their stuff with now fuss.
Your a few months too late One Plus, as usual. Too many good phones are being released now, most people don’t want your portable heater anymore. Always one step forward, seven steps backwards with this company.
i heard they changed their motto “never settle” into “winter is coming”
Does it really overheat or just gets warm as any other phone would do under similar load? From what I have seen, it doesn’t overheat, but that came at the price of downclock to 1.9Ghz that brought the performance down to the level of oneplus one, which is still more than sufficient for most people.
It still overheats, OnePlus just used a lot of thermal paste inside so the end user doesn’t feel the heat as much. After some heavy gaming or video editing you can feel it. Thermal paste is a short term solution to a much a larger problem. Eventually that paste will start to break down and unlike a PC there is no way for the end user to reapply it.
Maybe it overheats at some regions during long gaming sessions, but for people that don’t play that much on a smartphone it should be allright. After all, the SoC is still one of the best and the rest of the phone (camera, materials, design, close to stock ROM etc.) play even a bigger role.
Overall it’s a good phone but if you do anything that is processor heavy you will notice the heat. I tested one out for a 2 week business trip, I am not one who plays a lot of games. But even just watching videos, listening to music for extended time or editing photos it started to heat up. With two hours of continuous use on the plane I had to put it down, never had that issue with a phone before.
I’m so glad to finally have the option to buy a OnePlus 2. I’ve been waiting a long time to choose NOT to pick one up.
Bite me, OP.
