The UMi Rome has the makings of a really disruptive phone, with hardware punching well above its compeition and a low price. Here the first real photos of both the gold and black versions of the UMi Rome.
While we haven’t had time with the UMi Rome ourselves, we have managed to get these real photos showing what both the gold and a new black version of the UMi Rome will look like in the flesh.
UMi Rome Photos
The UMi Rome, for those of you who haven’t heard about the phone, is a budget device which was offered on pre-sale earlier this month at only $89. A low price for any phone, but especially impressive since the UMi Rome promises a 5.5-inch AMOLED 2.5D display, 3GB RAM, octacore MT6753 chipset and Type C USB.

UMi are saying that 100,000 UMi Rome phones have been pre-ordered at the low intro price, and now pricing will rise to $109.99, still a bargain if the hardware lives up to the hype.
Photos released to us today show the gold UMi Rome alongside a black version, which gives us a better look at the 100 process CNC alloy chassis. The frame actually looks similar to the UMi Hammer S with a nice curve to the rear, holes drilled in the base for dual speakers and a taper before meeting the rear panel. The chassis measures in a 7.9mm leaving enough room for a 2500mAh battery.

Phone looks good but UMI never fails in designing their devices so no surprise there. Now it’s all up to performance of the phone. Really curious since I’ve had the Hammer and no own the Iron. Both had their cons and pros but I never felt like I over paid for them.

andi’s been making some mistakes on this device for awhile now …. in one article he said that Umi Rome had fingerprint scanner :p !

You missed the train on that one. But I got mine two days ago off aliexpress for 98 usd. its still on pandawill for 99. Everywhere else it goes for 119.
There is no business selling price of $ 89, umi official said the price of 89 dollars is just a deceptive slogan, which is despicable means umi has been used, it is cheating. People can not believe they even use the phone whether the material is correct, there is no false arguments.

Your doubt is the exact reason why elephone teased the m3 so early: they want to bring people to wait for their device instead of buying somenthing available right now. But keep in mind the m3 will take 6-8 months to be released.
Actually the m2 surprisingly seems a nice choice overall, i suggest to look some review: i really didn’t expect such level from elephone
yup!!. m1 and m2 should work for them. i still don’t see why elephone think they need to be in the news with a new phone every other day if they are not going to launch it soon enough. their “2015 flagship killer” if anything is just going to be a regular middle-high spec phone by the time anyone gets them in JANUARY if ever!!!
They really thinks it’s a good marketing move, while they don’t realize it’s the worst possible move because their devices could never live up to the hype, even if they were perfect… And we all know elephone’s devices are REALLY far from perfection… 😀

no judging by the renders and umi themselves , and other articles who stated that thats glass
