What you have to give Elephone is the fact that the company is full of ambitions and experimentation, even if it doesn’t turn out right each time.
The Chinese phone maker has now published a list of phones which will get Android 6.0.
This includes devices that will ship with Marshmallow… keep reading for the list.
Elephone have a lot of devices in the market, more than I can remember. But the list of phones that will get Android 6.0 isn’t too hard to remember. Here goes:
Gizchina News of the week
- Elephone Trunk
- P6000
- P9000*
- P9000C*
- P9000 Lite*
- Ivory
- M3
Devices marked with a * will come pre-installed with Android 6.0 in January 2016. The Trunk will get it this month, whereas an ETA for the remaining devices was not provided.
Elephone also say that more devices will be added to this list soon.
A few of Elephone’s phones have turned out to be really impressive devices, including the P6000, and up to an extent, the P8000.
Continual software updates will ensure Elephone stay in the market. After all, almost everyone’s making powerful phones these days but hardly anyone’s backing it up with good software.

MOST of those phones havent been released yet !
and HOW exactly is the p8000 an ‘impressive’ device ?!
Honestly what are it’s issues? Apart from the atrocious camera it’s probably the best 5.5 incher of that price. The only one with released sources too. Most Chinese companies don’t do that, it’s the rest that should be shamed for not releasing the sources, not the one company that does it.
Have you guys actually owned a P8000?!? Because I feel like you haven’t… I have and I was blown away by the build quality. The open sourcing of the kernel and OS code has enabled the dev community to create some seriously optimised rom with some fancy custom kernels. DT2W has been enabled even though not officially supported, amongst other things such as battery optimisation that enabled 2 days of use easily (for me, at least)
I’ve owned many budget Chinese phones over the years and the P8000 is up there with the best. It does have some small issues (more personal preference though) such as ugly bezels, undersaturated IPS panel, a literal blue supernova as a notification LED…
Shame on you GizChiners for turning this community into a WCCFTech style hate fest.
Perhaps next time post some comments that clearly show the things you don’t like about a phone or brand and explain what could be done to better them.
It’s really sad, the longer I follow GizChina, the more faith I lose in its community…
