Today’s special advent offer is the fantastic ZUK Z1 flagship smartphone with 64GB internal memory for just $299.99 with free accessories!
The ZUK Z1 is the sleeper of Chinese smartphones. If you’re not familar with the term ‘sleeper’ it is usually used to describe a car that looks a little plain on the outside but houses s killer engine underneath. Many people complain that the Z1 is a little boring looking, but no one complains about the hardware specs.
Under the simple exterior and 5.5-inch FHD display is a powerful Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal memory, huge 4000mAh battery, finger print scanner and suprisingly good audio. The icing on the cake is official CyanogenOS ROM support for guarnteed updates.
Gizchina News of the week
ZUK have been keeping the pricing of the Z1 up at $319.99 but for today only we have broken the rules and dropped the price to $299.99 and thrown in a free flip case and glass screen protector. As Shop.GizChina.Com is an official ZUK agent the phone also comes with a 2 year warranty for peace of mind.
Its a great phone as you can see in my full ZUK Z1 review here, and it would make a great gift for yourself or a loved one this Christmas.
I understand the deal with the Zuk Z1 I really do the 2.3ghz 4 core sd801 is still a powerhouse.
But in all fairness in my neck of the woods it tends to be a fuzz if it cost more than a used Somsong Galaxy S5 which uses same SoC at higher clock speed waterproof-dustproof etc etc bla bla bla…
For about 220 and still some 1 month guarantee … And then there’s the issue with the brand … It would have fared better and I mean even better if it said LENOVO which people know a lot more …
What takes the reason out of equation for me is the total apparent design change zuk z2 will suffer according to all the leaks….. Let’s hope is all for the better…
Yes, my point exactly… You can’t say “oh, opo had nice sales with the same hardware and software, let’s make a clone almost 2 years later and try and sell it at an higher price!”… It’s not going to work! And i was the first saying “the hw is still good, the big battery is veeery nice and i can get used to that ugly looking home button”… But when I think at all of the better choices I can get for the same price or lower, I realize it’s full of defects!
I own both OP1 and Z1 and I can say that your claims are false. Z1 upgraded every OP1 week spot: screen, camera, dual SIM, battery. Tho OP1 is still my favourite phone and I can’t separate myself from it yet 🙂 But that is just nostalgia
Let me explain better: for example, zuk’s screen is undeniable better than opo’s one, but it’s still a 5.5″ fhd screen. Zuk is better in many areas, but still the spec sheet is very similar… So no wonder zuk used better quality components: their cost has dropped during those 2 years, so higher-quality screen zuk used costs like lower-quality opo’s one!
Not all 5.5″ FHD screens are equal. I can show you some that are terrible and some that are amazing. It’s one thing to say the cost of the components has dropped but without actual proof of that it is meaningless. Especially without knowing which specific parts they are using. Just because the specs are similar doesn’t mean they are the same parts. The only thing similar they actually have is CPU, RAM and Camera. But even the camera is different because even those they are both using an IMX 214, the ZUK has OIS which is an added cost. They both have 3GB of RAM but who supplies the RAM to each.
Component price, except soc, didn’t drop much. That is popular myth. The truth is RAM price did’t change for 5 years, for example
Most component prices are fairly static, they see very little drop from year to year.
Where I live a new S5 costs around $350 and a used one goes for about $250. Personally I would never guy used phones, but thats just me. And if I had to pick between a Zuk and an S5 I would go with the Zuk. Mostly for the software, CM is much better than Touchwhiz both from a performance and a support standpoint.
As for the name, Lenovo isn’t a strong name in the phone world in many parts of the world. Especially in the West where Zuk is hoping to capitalize on the success of the OnePlus. Same with them, Oppo isn’t a strong name in the west which is why they came up with a “new” company.
