Zopo confirm date for 10 core phone, could be the first Helio X20 device

zopo speed 8

Zopo have confirmed today the announcement date, name and processor of their upcoming flagship Speed 8 smartphone.

Zopo are going to start 2016 with the announcement of their first flagship of the year and possibly the first decacore Mediatek phone ever.

A few smartphone companies have been suggested as who could be first with a Mediatek Helio X20 phone for next year. One of the favourites is Meizu, but Zopo have now come from know where with an actual release date for their 10 core phone.

Gizchina News of the week

This isn’t a rumour either, Zopo have confirmed that they will be launching their Zopo Speed 8 with Helio X20 at MWC on February 24th at 10:30am. This wouldn’t be the first time for Zopo to launch the latest Mediatek chip ahead of the pack, they were able to pull off a similar stunt with the release of the Zopo ZP998 a few years back (at the start of the octacore wars).

As for other hardware details, well we don’t know at this time. All we know is the Speed 8 aims to be a game change for Zopo, with all new metal chassis, new features and that powerful processor. We wonder if it will be enough to turn the phone makers fortunes around.

I like how every company teasing a helio x20 device likes to use the word “first”

Also a consideration to all manufacturers is to make a phone design that will be theirs i mean something to separate them from the crowd.

BB always had it, HTC sort of got it, motorola and XIAomi did too, just that it looks like xiaomi is giving into it. Sony did and got copied really good and Apple (wich is imho the most boring) did as well successfully.

anyhow i can’t get my head out of that TITAN 3 design from doogee with the double screen and SPPARE space for a fingerprint reader on the back… maybe changing the leather for a grippy material as the LG V10 is using would be a nice thing too… but i do see a very nice looking device there if the spec’s+battery+software combo is decent…

cheers and MERRY CHRISTMAS God sent his son to all !!!

Note the 24th of Feb is a displayed announcement, not public availability. Also expect X20 based phones to be around $80-100USD higher than X10 based phones. Elephone is planning on the Vowney Pro in March/April with a X20 at the heart, if the Vowney 2K is successful, else they will release in a different design package – so around the same time as this Zopo Speed 8 phone.

Do you think a new list of desired Spec’s is due to already????

It will be the same as Vowney 2K but with the better SoC and USB3/fast-charge as the only difference. Obviously Android 6 will be the defacto.

Yeah, “elephone is planning”, too bad they deliver a year later and be like “we said the month, never said if it’s this year’s or next” :p

Which came first, Zopo or Oppo?

Zopo has been around for a while. Most Chinese phone makers use ARM reference designs and slightly change the circuit to fit the shell, so they are all pretty much the same. What distinguishes between the companies is; price, attached components and other features, and ultimately support based on sales success.

Zopo was one of first China devices to make it to the Europe with the zp980 250€ for a mtk6589 with a fhd 5″ display 2-3 Years ago was amazing lets hope for the best for them

You mean crap at the highest price…

Zopo’s ZP980 was junk with ghost touch problems, touchscreens that broke under minimum pressure on your pockets, and no SOFTWARE updates at all in its longlife.

      BS manufacturer at its best.

Hahaha! For you maybe! I still have my ZP980 and it is running fine! There were numerous updates and even a display driver update so no ghost touches on my ZP980! 😛
