China’s Letv announced the Letv Le Max Pro on the 6th of January 2016 at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.

The Le Max Pro happens to be the world’s first phone to feature a Snapdragon 820 SoC. With that, the Letv Le Max Pro offers 4GB of RAM and upto 128GB of on-board storage.

Looks like a great phone…
Disappointed a bit with the sub-par battery capacity..and the screen size is to big for me… 5.5′ in my limit.
Will wait for the Mi5…with the 820, I hope as well

With 6.3′ and 1440P screen, I don’t See this being good for heavy users unless the 820 has huge efficiency.
Expected atleast 4000+mAh.

What?? 6.33inches? Should I carry an extra bag for the phone? Where are the times when manufacturers produced phones with normal size? Hopefuly xiaomi will be more concerned to produce a phone you can actually use with one hand

What a idiots to make it such a huge device! If it was 5.5 inch or less they could have stolen a lot of customers from Xiaomi or others. I was interested untill I saw the size. No thank you.

Yes at last a phone worth buying! When’s it being released and how much? Looking forward to this one at last as I was fed up with all the 5-5.5″ phones that have flooded the market over the last 12 months.

Redmi note 3 with 1080p on a 5.5inch screen has 4000 mah battery. And this with 2k display with 6.33 inch display has only 3300 mah battery? Letv should consider giving more mah atleast in their upcoming phones

  Well, battery life on the redmi note 3 is pretty inconsistent despite the large battery capacity (my college has it and while SoT is great, ilde time is horrible because the battery keeps draining even during sleep). This device runs 6.0 instead of 5.x on the redmi so chances are its battery optimization is better.

  this is bezel-less on the sides but there is no bezeless phone, bezel-less and bezeless are two differnet things also i hope you dont think the black borders are bezels like what most people think

For those complaining about the screen size… this is the Le “Max” after all….. they will most likely release the Le One Pro 2 with the same specs and 5.5″ screen like they have in the past…

I will honestly be purchasing this, the battery may be small, but after optimizations and updates on the first LeMax the battery life on there lasts more than a day, so I trust after updates this phone will be the same. I read a lot, and am looking to merge my reading tablet and phone into one – and this is perfect =)

  By optimizations, you mean the kind that “mysteriously” put some apps to “sleep”, making you wonder why you aren’t getting notifications, alarms, making you miss important stuff, messages, etc, in a nutshell transforming your smartphone into a zombie phone?

    That could be, but on the other hand if they make full use of Doze on 6.0 then there will be no need for such app killers at all and the battery life will still be vastly improved without having to sacrifice too much.
    Granted, if the skin they put on it also comes with “cleaner” and “performance boost” apps, he should really think twice about purchasing it. Otherwise, it doesn’t seem that bad if it runs stock Android. We’ll just have to wait and see.

    But you do have to remove most of the Chinese apps…. but that does not in no way turn your phone into a zombie phone…. no idea where you got that from.

I can forgive the absurd size and the camera hump, but…
Why no on-screen buttons? Why the weird capacity buttons arrangement? Why have that stupid iOS-8-esque skin rather than going completely stock?
But oh well, I guess it’s to be expected from a Chinese OEM.

    Yeah because “losing” half an inch height of a big ass screen in exchange for a customizable, modifiable navigation bar that won’t stay there indefinitely is that big of a loss. I have custom ROMs that can hide or unhide the nav bar at the tap of a finger and it’s super convenient, and even if you’re not into modding there’s plenty of apps that do exactly that without root, I have tried them. You might like capacity buttons and it’s totally okay but don’t use the “screen real estate” as an argument because it sounds like a joke.

What is wrong with phone makers lately? Everybody releasing those shitty gold colored phones and standard metal or black phones aren’t available for months if they even release in that color. Every frickin mafia member, loan shark and other dubious individuals have large golden stuff to show off. I don’t want to look like that, I want a normal colored phone not something that shouts “Hey look at me, I am a rich douchebag!”.
And what is up with that ugly notification/settings/recent apps screen? That is the single ugliest designed thing Apple has ever done and they copied it. I don’t think that iOS design is bad in general but that screen it is. iOS done right would look like MIUI. Granted MIUI is also heavily inspired but I think it corrects what Apple got wrong in the design department.
Setting aside the above, I think this is a very nice phone. I love the size, it’s something I was looking for although the 5.5 model will surely follow and that will be just as nice.
Too bad they didn’t get the new Sense ID scanner, that would have made it truly awesome especially if it was under the screen or on the side Sony style.
Capacitive buttons I like, not sure why so many people hate them, that space still will be there regardless if you put buttons on it or don’t and I prefer not to waste my screen for showing buttons.
Having a minimum 32 Gb storage was a very smart move, I’ve been waiting for manufacturers to start doing this. Everybody who thinks they don’t need more than 16 Gb space are likely to run out of it if they snap a few pictures, load up a few albums of music and install a few apps.
As for the battery, that is quite a disappointment, such a huge screen and high resolution would have deserved a decent battery. I can’t imagine why would they use such a small battery when they surely could fit at least a 4000 mAh one in this huge body. Even if software is so optimized that it lasts a day of heavy usage (probably impossible) it still would have been nice to have 1000 – 1500 mAh more energy just in case.

M8 has fantastic battery life. It lasts for 2 days with medium usage. SOT is more than five hours.

Just as I said about the upcoming Nubia X8, LeTV’s problem is their In-house OS.
This could be a great device IF that would make a “Pure Android” version of it. Or if they would get Cyanogen (either commercial or open source) to support it as a primary phone. Or if they could get Google to support their hardware directly (like some sort of “Nexus version” program… which doesn’t currently exist).
The irony is that all it would take would be to give a few phones to the CM core open-source developers and they would support it right away. Those guys are itching for early access to a solid Snapdragon 820 device. And all the problems of the OS would go away if this was a core supported CM device.
