There is a muted excitement about the Chuwi Hi12. This is a tablet that promises blistering performance and dual-boot OS on a large 12 inch display.
Not being a fan of Windows it’s hard for me to say this, but here goes. The Chinese tablet market was in a slump until Windows 10, there I said it. Over the past few years Chinese tablet makers have faced a real uphill battle, but try as they might interest in their wares was in decline, but now Windows 10 is in the picture and things are looking up.
The latest from Chuwi is the Hi12, a 12-inch tablet boasting a powerful Intel Cherry Trail 64bit quad-core chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB memory. The top of the range version even comes with a stylus for some on-screen doodling!
Gizchina News of the week
Chuwi say that the 2160 x 1440 resolution tablet, will come with Windows 10, meaning you can use this as an office tool, but plans to also release an Android OS option and enable dual-boot in the future.
Prices start at $249.99 for the standard version, while the stylus equipped version costs $299.80. Both models have gold finished metal bodies, 11,000mAh battery, 5 mega-pixel rear cameras, and 3:2 ratio display.
Pre-orders have already started over on Gearbest.com and will end on the 28th January. We aim to get a sample so watch out for our upcoming review.
If it is wacom it is good. Otherwise meh.
Where can I get that MackBock Air? 😛
I think I will get this one, I just wish it had the z8500.
I completely second this.
The difference in the BOM between the Atom z8300 and z8500 is 5$. The difference in performance with twice the RAM bandwidth is way bigger.
I would gladly pay an extra 25$ on the final price for a z8500 version.
If the dual boot version should work fine with the pen option …
Wait and see …
( Currently I already have a dual boot tablet, a X98 Air 3G, and in fact, mostly use the android os )
A very good machine, the wifi isn’t the best one, except that, I’m pretty happy.

Don’t forget that in that price range you can get a Teclast with z8500:

And if you spend an extra 100 you can go up to Core M 5Y10C

Anyway, competition is always good for us consumers.

How do you like it – the X98 Air 3G? I was thinking about getting it.

Why is that?
Hello dear, this is Blair from Gearbest, do you have unhappy experience with our web, if so, we are here to listen to your feedback! And we will keep getting better with your advise! Thank you.
Seems that gearbest is so busy during christmas and newyears that lots of things go wrong. I ordered my christmas present with you a month before christmas, but the order status remained “paid”. My dad ordered the same tablet a week later and the order was shipped within one week.
I tried to contact gearbest several times but no response. Eventually i opened a dispute with paypal. Still no response from gearbest. Paypal gave me a refund.
I second that. They’ll send your package and if you receive it there’s no problem. But if you don’t receive it (like I did), ‘service’ is the worse it can be.
My package arrived empty at DHL in Netherlands. I had shipping insurance on it, so no problem I’d say. After 2 months of 40 messages to GearBest via Mail, support desk, Twitter, Facebook, PayPal and even DHL, I still hadn’t recieved any refund. I had to tell the problem almost every time again (use the history ffs) because I was helped by 11 different employees. They 5(!) times claimed to have refunded me. Never recieved anything from GearBest. So PayPal eventually solved it for me.
Be warned. No. GearBest. Again.
I can’t see how the 8” version with 32GB will fit Android + Windows 10, with Microsoft’s OS tendency to eat storage space as the frequent updates are available.
Don’t buy at Gearbest or you will be very disappointed.
