Antutu’s Weibo account posts Meizu MX6 specifications

The Weibo account of popular benchmarking tool Antutu has posted purported specifications of the Meizu MX6! Are they right or is it another Meizu machine?

Antutu is still a very popular benchmark in China with manufacturers bragging their scores even during launch events. The tool is also often used to test new devices in development, and Antutu believe that Meizu’s next flagship has already been spotted.

In a Weibo post today, the Anututu team claimed that they had learned the specifications of the Meizu MX6. According to the post the MX6 will come with a Mediatek MT6797 10 core processor, 1080 display, 3GB RAM, 32GB memory, and Android 6.0.

There are a few details which stand out to us though. The chipset is the Helio X20, and 3GB RAM seems a little tame for a flagship for 2016, could this really be the Meizu MX6?

We’re not the only ones wondering if Antutu are right, and commenters in China have also asked if its not more likely that this phone is the rumoured Meizu Pro 5 Mini, or even the Meizu Meilan Note 4?

Whatever it might be don’t expect to have to wait too long before the Meizu marketing machine kicks in to action.

I have bought a meizu m2 mini to have a play about with this week. See what I think of flyme OS. I’ve never had a meizu handset before, and this was a cheap way to try it. And besides my z3c is on its way out. Looking forward to more meizu devices!

  I bought a meizu metal cheap this week to have a play with flyme OS as I too haven’t experienced it before. If it’s good I may go for their flagship phone later in the year if it meets my requirements.

    Same here. I love the design of their phones. Also, Amazon seem to stock them as a standard item now. So they’re a lot easier to get hold of over other brands. And if anything goes wrong with it, it’s very easy to get returns back to Amazon. :p

Well, well, well! MX6 will be the first X20 chip then. Mali 880MP4 is definitely X20(only other chip is Kirin 950 and Huawei don`t license their chips to others).
So, this will be a cheaper offering(299$ perhaps), should score around 100,000 in Antutu.

To be honest I’m waiting for Meizu pro 5 mini… any news on this one? I’ve got really high hopes that it will have all the hardware of the big model. including exactly the same AUDIO HARDWARE…

Just like i said before, meizu’s partnership with mediatek will surely bring out the first x20 device!
Now, it seems quite too much for a meilan device (wich probably will “just” have the p10 inside).
Imho, this could really be the next mx6: now the flagship belong to the PRO series, so it’s reasonable for the MX series to become an “upper mid-range” one.
What does it means? Well… In 2015 meizu was forced to launch the meizu metal to counter xiaomi’s redmi notes… And it wasn’t the best move ever because it did upset many mx5 owners… In 2016 maybe they won’t launch a meizu metal 2: they could set a lower starting price for the mx6, and cut it even further when the PRO 6 (and redmi note 4) will come out!
So, jumping back to the original statement, this could be the mx6: a device with decent hardware, yet not a “2016 flagship-worth” hardware… Cutting something from specs sheet, they would launch it at a price low enough to battle against mid-rangers of all sort during the year!

  But Matt the Pro version always uses the Exynos chipset. with Helio x20 they are going to target the SD810 market.
  I really hope that Helio P10 is similar in performance to SD 808 and the upcoming SD617. Mediatek’s main advantage will be the price.

    Not quite, the X20 will compete with Kirin 950 and SD 650-52.
    The SD820 is beyond it`s reach, as is the Exynos 7420 and the new 8890, due to much better GPU`s in both chips.
    If Meizu offer the first X20 device at around 279$ it`s gonna be a killer device, but they really need to up their software game.

X20 and 3GB is ok here , 4GB is gonna be hard on the battery but 1080p is not ok if they want to prcie it at 300$.

    It should be a 1799 – 1999CNY ( MX4 and MX5 launched at 1799) and that is 274-304$ currently.

      i am thinking the latter 1999 CNY, or 2099 CNY. MX5 was 16 GB, and i am thinking that this would be 32GB version

        32GB eMMC is some 10$, prices have dropped a lot in the last year. More if you buy UFS 2.0 but the X20 doesn’t support it so the most is eMMC 5.1. In pure theory they could go 64GB TLC with SLC cache if they really wanted to as a selling point and without the need to up the price.
        Look at microSD prices , a couple of days ago in the US there was a 128GB microSD at 27$ , record low so far. 1TB SSDs are starting to hit 200$. NAND are always dropping some 30% per year,sometimes more.
