Cubot are launching their all new smartphone, the Cubot S550 this Friday with dual glass design, fingerprint scanner and large battery.
Cubot have already impressed us with the build quality of their Cubot X17 (review here) and we wonder if they can do it again with the new Cubot S550.
For the S550, Cubot have stuck to their design ethos, while focussing a little more on the hardware by introducing a rear touch fingerprint scanner, large 3000mAh battery and fast charging while retaining a thin 7mm body.
Gizchina News of the week
Materials used in the build include a metal chassis and dual glass design with the front panel boasting a smooth 2.5D curved panel.
The 5.5-inch phone runs HD resolution with a Mediatek MT6735 and 2GB RAM doing the grunt work. Cameras on the phone are 5 mega-pixel front and 8 mega-pixel rear (interploted to 13 mega-pixels).
Cubot will officially announce all the details on Friday, but we have already seen the phone online for 149 Euros.
Cubot is making a comeback, I like it! When I first started buying Chinese phones they were a major player in this industry. Good to see them making a comeback.
It’s great to see as others seem to have vanished, what happened to inew? The V3 was a great handset in its day, also Neken vanished along with the excellent N6 which was hugely popular for a very long time. Instead they get replaced with brands like Elephone and Doogee who make pieces of crap!
Even some of the brands that became big at the beginning of last year have been strangely absent lately like Mlais and Siswoo.
There are many others too, maybe it seems like they’re quiet because a certain few manufactures seen to be releasing phones every week. We’ve gotten used to seeing some in the news on an almost daily basis, at the end of the day Siswoo for instance only released 2-3 phones last year so a bit early to judge then just yet.
I saw a lot of progress from Mlais and Siswoo too, hopefully they have a P10 phone planned for 2016. They seem like they can be a good budget brand that focuses only on a few phones each year instead of the Elephone/Doogee model of a new phone every week.
I’m pretty sure Mlais was a one hit wonder and we will never heard from the again.
They actually released 6 phones last year two of them the M52 and M7 were good phones.
Inew still around, L4 and L3 recently, L5 and some others to follow. L3 is a really nice phone in mold of the V3, but camera did not live up to the V3 (or what was advertised – no OIS for a start and hugely over processed images). The question is perhaps more not where are they, but why no one really promoted or reviewed it? I asked several sites, including this one, and vloggers if they were going to review the L3, they all said no. Seems sometimes incentives are lacking.
